Who here has Xbox?

Any other thoughts? I was offered a Xbox for $105 shipped but has no case. Says he was gonna build a modded clear case for it but something came up and he was getting a car and needed the money said his parents threw out the case for it so its not included. Said he never had any problems with it(bought in Dec 2001). I was thinking about getting it a taking the extra $100 and buying a couple used games and another controller or 2.

got an xbox and ps2.. both run fine... no problems.... no defects... i leave em both on for days at a time sometmies... i have 3 sets of av inputs on my tv... so i can switch easily from one to the other..

I know it's not a PC, but this just makes me laugh. I tried this. How much "teamwork" can you do when you don't have a KEYBOARD to talk with! Or even simple chat macros!

Why would anyone do this when they can play a PC game with 16 vs 16 much easier? I mean, hookin the xbox up to the internet requires a PC, so why not just use that?

It's a lot of fun having 4 friends play together against 4 other mofo's from a different state, you all talk to each other while sitting on the couch and it's just a killer experience. I'm a Quake1/2/3 pro and a TF/TFC pro and this is by far the most fun.

That's just sketchy. I'd pass and get a used one that hasn't been raped.

BTW if you plan on playing with friends (2-4 players) make sure to get FIFA World Cup and Halo. Those are the only 2 games I play even though I own more. I don't play XBOX single player at all.

Yeah but when(if I get it) I was gonna game on it for a day or so to make sure there was no problems before sending the money. Buying one used is buying one used. Cheapest I seen online for a used one was $150 and that was in Canada(no way). In the US the cheapest was $160 for one used and was made in March 2002. If it does break down in a month or 2(or even a week after getting it) I can make most my money back selling it on eb*y or selling it out as parts. Broken Xbox goes for $100 on there.

used is used IMO all because he took the case off does mean he well raped it but then again some ppl are sick.

I don't quite get it....he removed the case cuz he was gonna mod it and now he just wants to sell it without it's housing? No way would I go for that. I mean, unless you actually knew this dude or something.

I've had mine since November 2001. Last week, while playing World Series Baseball, it froze in-game. Being frustrated that I lost the game stats, I just shut it off. Turned it on again the next day and it wouldn't load anything, not even the XBOX logo (when there's no CD in the drive)... just a gray screen with the eject button flashing green/orange consistently. I thought for sure the unit died (when it froze my game the day before)... but I unplugged everything from the console and re-plugged it. It worked again... and hasn't given me problems since then.

I got mine in december of last year. aside from twice telling me there is no dvd in the drive (when there was one) and some lag in morrowind (i don't konw if that's the console's fault) i've had no major problems.

True but if I get it and it doesnt work or if I don't get it at all(he rips me off) he is driving distance away(a hour or so drive). Trust me I will pay him a visit. With any luck it will last long enough for me to play Halo,DOA3,Amped,Rallisport and PGR. If it lasts through those games I think it would be well worth $105. Besides if it does die I will have spare parts if I buy me a new one. Heck MS charges $99 and up to repair a console I am getting the whole console for that price .

That?s just till LIVE is online. After that, you don't need a PC. They are bundling headsets with the deal (afaik), so you can talk with each other instead of typing.

So why not go up there and try it out and buy it in person, instead of sending him money? This way you know if it works, he can't rip you off by not sending it, and he can't give you BS about how it got messed up by FedEx in shipping.

Anyway, I got my Xbox about a month ago and I've had no problems. It gets about 10 hours per week. A friend with a launch unit had some weird issues with the DVD drive. We were doing a marathon Cel Damage session and the drive started making clicking noises as it was loading a level. We cycled the power, and the clicking has never happened again. The motor inside his controller included with the Xbox is already worn out.

Reason I don't go up there is because I have no drivers license. Also I plan on playing it for a few hours before sending the rest of his money. I sent half now and am gonna send the other half after I test it. He wanted to keep the brand name controller but included a brand new interact controller with rubber grips and is suppost to be a bit smaller and is licensed by MS/Xbox.

it does? daym. i want that game. i afraid if i get it that i'll just let fever and morrowind sit around, collecting dust. happens everytime i buy a new one.

yo tigerbait-i keep reading conflicting things...i know ncaa 2003 won't be LIVE compatible but i heard NCAA 2k3 (sega) will...and then i heard that sega's entry won't either but that you can import drafted players into NFL2k3...? Any info?

NCAA is out, infact my brother is playing it right now. NCAA by EA will NOT be online and NCAA from Sega will be able to access online features, whether that means online play or just rosters, etc i dont know

Neither college football game can be played online.

Both have exportable players for their NFL counterparts.

Sega's will have ESPN logos and backgrounds.

Mine broke after ~5 months. Just after my 90 days was up and I was SOL. I now regret getting one especially before the price drop. When it worked it was great, 4 player halo online is the most fun ive had gaming with my friends in years. But now I have 4 controllers and 6 games not to mention the pos black box with a green X on it sitting next to them going to waste.

EDIT -

Oh yaaaaaa IF I ever get a new one all my game saves will be gone. Delightful. Dont let my post turn you off of buying one because it is a great system dont get me wrong but I have had a very frustrating experience dealing with MS on the phone and numerous other people.
