how does Grey Goose compare to Absolute (thats the one I have now)?

Absolut is overpriced and very harsh. If you don't want to shell out for Grey Goose, you should buy Stoli instead.

I don't like Absolut.

i once read that if you run cheap ass (mccormick) vodka through a charcoal filter (britta) 4 or 5 times, you can make it as good as kettle one or better. Anyone tried this or is it just an urban myth? i believe they said they use the same kind of filters when bottling the expensive stuff. sounds like BS but it would be interesting to find out.

I'm going to repeat this because it is worth repeating.

Here's my recipe for the best vodka martini ever:

Fill shaker with ice
Pour in Grey Goose
Cover and shake until your hand is frozen to the side of the shaker
Strain immediately into a cocktail glass
Enjoy!

Edit-If you absolutely must have an olive in your martini rinse it under cold water before you put it in your martini. If you absolutely must have vermouth in your martini, use a spritzer and just add a fine mist of vermouth to the shaker before you add the vodka.

Straight vodka is not a martini.

I heard it's top of the class when it comes to vodka, I'm going to try it next time I get a drink

I had a couple Grey Goose martinis over the weekend with my friends.

It is the best. There is no other.

Dood, it's missing either gin or vermouth...and the splash of olive and garnished with olive below....how could you do that to Grey Goose???

Anyone who adds anything into grey goose needs to be punched in the face

what does it mean when they make it 'dirty'? They add some type of oil?

They add olive juice to it to make it dirty...it gives it better taste too...

It's the solive juice that makes it dirty, obviously.

I thought it was without vermouth. Just olive juice and vodka. Thats how I make em and order them.

NONONONONO!!!! Never shake a Martini!! I don't care what Bond says. It melts ice into the drink, and (more of a problem with gin than vodka) it aerates the liquor. This does the same thing to it as letting wine breathe - it gets rid of the tang. But with a Martini, the tang should be so subtle anyway that you can't afford to lose any of it.

Shaking is wrong unless you're at a urinal.

If you need it that cold, keep the bottle in the bloody freezer packed in bags of ice.

What the hell are you TALKING about??? You areate wine to make it taste better, it's called breathing....You shake it with ice so the ice melts with the alcohol and tones down the taste...unless you are after a frat party guzzling fest, shake your martini..and then light a great cuban and sit back and relax...

Here you go.

Basically, it just tastes like diluted vodka. We've done it with Popov, Zelko, and a few other really cheap vodkas. Great for mixing.

No, you can have a dirty martini mixed with gin..but it tastes like pinesol...

Go to a restaraunt and order a Grey Goose martini bruised and dirty and you will never put it down...until it puts you down...

Grey Goose makes ANY drink made with Vodka better, whether you drink it straight or not. Obviously, the more Vodka you have in your drink, the more noticeable the difference in quality.

And I can get it for just over 15.00 a fifth. 😀

I'm really into different Vodkas and have to say Grey Goose is the best I've ever had. Ketel One and Belvedere are up there too. Skyy and Absolut are overpriced and not good for shots. Skyy is ok when mixed, though I'm still not a fan of it. Finlandia is one of my favorites to get smashed off of. It's cheaper than Skyy, but tastes much better. It's good in shots and mixed into drinks. Smirnoff is...eh.

Grey Goose is delicious, plain and simple.

Although I'm by no means very experienced in the ways of alcohol, it's the smoothest vodka I've ever had.

GG > > Ciroc > Svedka > Stoli > Sky > Absolut > Any grainy sh!t someone else makes that sells in plastic bottles...

Anything less would be uncivilized...
