Sounds like an engagement ring for geeks or something! ;)

j/k

I played the ORIGINAL Phantasy Star on the Sega Master System back in the late 1980's. Followed that up with the Genesis version. Unfortunately, I don't want Sega Online modem connection so I doubt I'll ever play.

<<I have the iso>>
:Q
Is that illegal???

You should buy the game once you have the time and money, it is one of the greatest games ever. Make sure you have an ISP though

The game is alright. Its somewhat...diablo-ish. I've only played it offline though.

Play it online....it is a much better experience online. But the offline experience is very fun, too.

Was it released in the states? I must have missed that. I've been looking for a new DC game to get, since I beat Skies of Arcadia...might have to check this one out.

I didn't like PSO at first, but it grew on me like a cancer. I must add though that the aiming with the hunter is a nitemare. It is just so hard lining up correctly.. it gets to be annoying after a while.

Anyhow, I bought the broadband adapter for it - which was an absolute waste of money. Anyhow, I will probably be playing all night, so if you want to play with me, look around for me.

I am usually on Miranda, 6. My name on the game is "virus.jan". I am only level 6, so don't expect me to kick ass and take names. :)

You use the same char for online and offline, so it carries over. BTW, I bought the game today and it rocks! I am only level 4 but I am loving it

Well, the game is supposed to have the broadband support. Apparently, you need the new web browser software to enable it or something. I'm not too sure though.

Supposedly, the broadband adapter does work, you just need to do a few things. I think you have to buy the latest version of DreamPassport browser, and then configure it with the Dream Passport browser.

Supposedly, though, using a broadband adapter doesnt make a difference. Just loading into a new area is faster, I think.

For more info, you might want to check out the IGN.Dreamcast board

The Boards at IGN.com....

You can only play it online over Sega's ISP? Or can you dial up with your PC ISP and play? Still new to this whole Dreamcast dealy, just bought one yesterday.

welp, the reason it would make a difference for me? is that i already have a cable modem and dont feel like paying for a dialup.

Yes, you can use both Sega's ISP and your PC's ISP. Seganet is faster though, compared to FreeIsp's, I have noticed.

I would reccomend using Seganet. They have a trial version. Go Rent or Buy NFL2k1, Quake 3 Arena, and then you can get a 50 hour free trial. Also, If you buy the Official Dreamcast Magazine, you can get the browser disk, which has a free trial of the browser

It doesn't really make much of a difference. Out of all the times I have played PSO online, I have never had any lag! With a dial-up! Never! The only difference from the dial-up and cable is that you will boost(transfer from the visual lobby to another room) faster with a cable modem

The question is that since we already pay for our cable ISP ($40/month) no one wants to pay more for Sega.net.

The broadband adapter means a one-time hardware fee and that's it.

Check this out, taken from an interview on dc.ign.com:

"IGNDC: It?s been pitched back and forth ? will Phantasy Star Online take advantage of the Broadband Adapter?

JK: PSO does not officially support Broadband; hence it does not take advantage of the Broadband Adapter. However, since this is not a ?twitch? game, like a shooter, Broadband will not really enhance your playing experience."

These people dont seem to understand that we want to use the adapter because we
already have a cable modem and dont want to pay for an isp...

Questions..
First: Broadband...
PSO DOES support the BBA, but you either have to go to one of the sites, download Discjuggler, and burn the 3.0 version of dreampassport and setup the BBA through there, have an import copy of PSO to set it up with, OR download a file for the VMU from a place like booyaka.com

2nd: If you have cable, like me, and want the easy way, Netzero works wonders. It's free for 40 hours, and I have had ZERO lag, its no faster then Seganet on PSO. If you want to find out how to do it, its here.

Hope I helped

Idiots.

We don;t want to pay TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care about the tweaks or the speed!

Looks like I am going to pass.
