I've been using kratom daily for around ten years. Within a few months of starting, I was completely drug and alcohol free and have been since. It has made such a positive impact in my life. Making this herb illegal would be a huge mistake.

And i've read it has helped many folks with the withdrawal of opioids.

This is the problem in the legstation.

"There are 2 Acts in the US Senate that can potentially ban Kratom according to pro-Kratom attorneys.

- SITSA ACT
- SCREEN ACT

These 2 Acts are well-intentioned and seek to ban Fentanyl analogues. However, their legal wording is extremely vague and may allow Kratom/natural compounds to be banned with harsh punishments."

If you look those up it's very vague.

I have a close female friend who uses it. She dragged me down with her "for protection" to some "head" shop run by middle eastern BS artists to buy it because she "didn't trust the internet." I couldn't dissuade her. I tried to tell her, "Well, these are opiates, even if they're mild ones; watch out and don't get hooked." Anyway, she gave me some to try. I fell asleep on the lawn, right at a "Human Peace Sign" event. Big deal. Not impressed. No more for me. But she continues to swear by them, like they're some sort of clean upper for her.

Technically, kratom is an opioid not an opiate and it's a lousy "high." It is useful as a pain killer. It is also very useful to get those addicted to opiates off them because it occupies the same receptors, meaning if you first take kratom, opiates have little effect.

Yeah, thems the specifics and what I was gently trying to warn her about . . . not getting in too deep. It appears she hasn't. She uses it, when she does, mostly for energy and some sort of mild high. I wonder how much of that is purely psychological.

She has her own successful business, comes home and keeps her house immaculate all by herself (I came by the other day and she was up on a ladder power washing her siding), does a ton of good outreach and help at our church, and then parties like it's 1999 all the damn time after. She's a ton of fun to be around.

Fun fact: She has a "better" (well, more expensive) laptop than I do (I've gone all chromebook in my dotage.) But she almost never uses it. So, she needed to get online for some reason recently and couldn't get her lappy to connect to the net. Enter Sir Perknose. At first, I couldn't figure out why (I never even got to Win10 in the MS universe.) Then, I remembered my buddy Durwood (I just love saying his name here) bitterly complaining when Win10 came out (he's a contractor, uses it for his business, Cad proggies and estimate proggies and tax stuff 'n all) that he'd be in the middle of work when the goddamn forced updates would hijack his 'puter.

Bottom line, she hadn't been on in so long that the backed up updates were stifling use, BUT . . . there was NO notice on the machine itself that this was the case. So . . . I finally booted and re-booted until the updates started doing their thing and told her, "Tomorrow, you can use it."

Well, "tomorrow" for some reason, she still couldn't, so she called Verizon (her provider) tech and, after almost an hour on the phone, THEY couldn't suss it out and finally told her she had to make use of their PAID tech support. I told her, "Hold on, don't do that, I'll come back over."

Now she thinks I'm God. ;)

We bond over our love of dogs and nature and our shared affinity for HAVING FUN, but I would never want to be in a committed relationship with her, as we're both Scorpios and . . . a bit . . . hardheaded and stubborn, you know?

I'ma go find some pics of her. She (still) looks pretty damn good for 63.

At my hippie church with Santa Perk. I tell folks I'm Santa's brother, Subordinate Clause.

Nancy in her back yard, which abuts Lake Galena in Peace Valley Park (she doesn't like her pic being taken.)

Performing at our church. Our services are called Celebrations and are not your usual churchy church thang.

In her house. Also in her house.

Don't mind me. I'm in a mood. Today, June 26th, is the 17th anniversary of the death of my wife Jessie at the age of f*cking 42. She was the only woman I ever asked to marry me. :( :( :(

I bought some from a shop like that never again. Now I trust the internet.

Your close female friend looks and sounds a lot like my wife's aunt Debbie. We have tons of respect for her type, she manages and keeps up her house, runs a business, takes care of her kids, and still manages to find the energy to have a little bit of fun for herself too.
Also, that beard is glorious. In my 22 years of having beards, mine have been always far inferior to "Santa perk."

Lurker here. I take it medicinally as a less addictive anti-anxiety medication (look up how addicting many of the prescription anti-axniety meds are) and pain reliever. Like many have said it's a 'lousy high' but if your purposes are specific it can be an extremely helpful medication. I believe it's primary use in the US has been to ween off or stop opiate withdrawals/addiction. It's far less addictive to these drugs; anecdotally I haven had no addiction issues/withdrawal issues ever taking Kratom but it could be I use it so situationally that it would never take hold.

Strain types and their effects can vary wildly, if you're not careful some can have terrible side effects for you personally. Even same strain from different vendors can have big differences. Do not buy from headshops - what they sell is crap.

I've heard contrary anecdotal reports on opiates having little effect while on Kratom. They all said the pills worked just the same but they experienced few, if any, withdrawal symptoms when they quit taking the pills. Without the kratom they were suffering horrible withdrawals that almost always led them to quickly relapse. Maybe they were less effective and they just didn't realize or say anything, I dunno.

The End of a legal Kratom in the US? so Call your representatives and sign the petition in the link, might seem pointless but we gotta try.

"Long story short - There is a new administrator at the DEA.

The American Kratom Association is calling on the new Administrator, Uttam Dhillon, to immediately reject the FDA's recommendation to ban Kratom. This could be the decisive turning point in our struggle to keep Kratom legal"

https://americankratom.salsalabs.org/fdaadministratoruttamdhilloncopy1/index.html

"The FDA’s claims that kratom use is a gateway to the use of opioids, or the contributor for addiction to opioids, has no credible science to support that claim. In fact, the science and survey data on kratom use by those who consume kratom as a safe alternative pain management option, directly contradicts the FDA’s claims. The FDA should be required to provide real evidence, not opinion, speculation, or unsupported guesses."

Blah, blah, blah . . .
Also in her house.
The woman in the background at Nancy's house is Moose, now pushing 80. I've recounted it here, but two years ago we challenged each other to see how far into fall and winter we could go swimming outside in Tohickon Creek. We wuz Crazy! We went swimming outside on Christmas day! It was actually one of the warmer days.

Anyway, I just got back from Church Camp. It's nothing like any church camp you've ever known. Back in the day, our church got thrown out to the first two camps they went to. :D:eek:

My first year at my church, folks would sidle up to me and pimp camp, mentioning "nude ping pong." :p

Anyway, Moose! Up at camp this year were a bunch of pictures of folks from past camp, including one of Moose from 1988, which was the first year I went. She had a banging bod back in the day.

No bra. Just sayin'.

She was all over me that year from the get-go, but I had a g/f back home and I don't mess. We did go down to the lake at 7am when no one was there to go skinny dipping.

You could barely see the other shore, that's how big Lake Paradox in the Adirondacks was. Nevertheless, when we got back there was "controversy" because someone on the opposite shore had complained about us!

Moose was a motorcycle owning, Rainbow Gathering going, child of nature. Now, she's starting to face the indignities of old(er) age, so I liked seeing that pic of her from better times.

I just learned about this legal in most states pain reliever. I can't believe I've never heard about it so I am asking has anyone had any legal experience with taking it? I know it's being used in some places to help with opioid addiction. It comes from a plant and and big pharma hates natural remedies since they can't control its use unless it's made illegal.

:lollipop:

funny you made this tread. I saw this stuff for the first time today at a vape shop and when i asked what it was the owner said exactly what you posted. too weird.

It would be perfect for them if it was made Schedule 1 as I'm sure they have already studied the shit out of it.

Their next big wonder drug will be a "cure" for opioid addiction.

Apparently, screaming, crying, randomly striking out while rocking back and forth in agony is a-ok as long as you're drug free.

Good news!

***BREAKING NEWS****
SITSA ACT WAS STOPPED!
(the backdoor that may have been used to quietly ban Kratom)

SITSA will not be added to the legislation that Congress is seeking to pass. Kratom (and other natural botanicals) won a victory tonight.

Thank you x 10000 to the thousands-upon-thousands who called! You know who you are!!! We absolutely flooded the phone lines and WE WERE HEARD

This is a victory, a big one. But stay vigilant (aka pay attention to social media advocacy), the fight is not over!

It must be taking off, I saw a sign for a place saying they sell kratom there.

yea thats a problem sometimes you get what you ask for and to many people get involved and you're bound to come up with a few problems. Then some congressmen wants to get their name in the news and ban the evil kratom. Sign could of been up for a while and you just noticed it~

Hi guys. I know that thread is dead from 2018, but... I need your help. I recently discovered that I have migraines once a month and I am thinking about starting to take kratom. Will it help me cope with a severe headache?

In the off chance that this is a legit post, I would suggest that the OT-section of a tech-forum might not be the best source for this kind of advice.
