My last name is only four letters so even 12 years ago the .com was already gone when I looked. I was able to grab the .org though so I got firstname@lastname.org.

I still grabbed firstnameMIlastname@gmail and FIMIlast@gmail for good measure.

my name's John Williams so unless I sign up for an email address the day a site launches no way in hell I'd ever get it.

I love registering for free e-mail accounts:

<firstinitialmiddleinitiallastname>@<throwawaydomain1>.com (primary backup)
<firstinitialmiddleinitiallastname>@<throwawaydomain2>.com (secondary backup)

<firstname.lastname>@<throwawaydomain3>.com (address for moderating)
<firstname.lastname>@<throwawaydomain4>.com (forwards to primary address)

<firstinitiallastname>@alumni.<college1>.edu (forwards to primary address)
<firstinitialmiddleinitiallastname>@alumni.<college2>.edu (forwards to primary address)

My primary address is at my own domain.
I also have a secondary domain that no knows has an e-mail address. I think it forwards to my primary address.

My work e-mail is <firstinitiallastname>@<workdomain>.com.
I also registered a secondary domain for work and use <myinitials>@<workdomain2>.com. It is a lot shorter and easier to state over the phone than my "official" work address.

I also have two cia.com addresses that work off and on as forwards to my primary address. Because they are not reliable, I do not give them out.

Back in the day, I was too lazy to get my firstname.lastname@xxxxx.com at Gmail or one of the other big free mail services in time. Anyhow, I just created a firstname.lastname account at Inbox.com. Hopefully, it'll be the next big shit after Gmail dies in obscurity...:colbert: Who's in the same boat as me?

Gmail is "back in the day" now? I thought it was pretty new. But then, I got my first email address back in 1995 or 1996... firstname.lastname@<isp>.se
