Who here has Att Uverse internet?

SAWYER

Lifer
I have been going over my 150 gig cap so I called and they said for 35 bucks(I pay 25 plus 10 overage) I get unlimited bandwidth. I look on att's own broadband FAQ site and it says Uverse gets 250 gig. A google search shows people saying they do not enforce this. If you have Uverse, what has been your experience?

I have had it at 3 places over the last 4 years and never got any notifications about a cap. I'm sure I have gone over it, but don't actually measure my usage so I don't know how often...

I have them.

I have zero idea how much BW we use. lil rudeguy is always streaming and downloading.....whatever it is 16 year olds download that takes up 3TB. Never got any kind of overage.

I would never EVER get ATT, just because they keep sending ghetto dudes around my town knocking on everyone's doors begging to get service.

If I wanted your service ATT I would contact you. ANY company that knocks on my door = shit list/will never EVER do business with them again.

Had it for a few months (late 2011-mid 2012) concurrent with my Comcast HSI.

Slow as hell, I'd get like 3mbps/1.5 mbps when it worked. At that speed I'd never go over the 250Gb cap. Barely got technical help when I needed the bad phone lines fixed/checked. Paid $24.95/month IIRC, no 2-year contract.

I have ATT but traditional line (not Uverse). I hit the 150gb limit a month ago and they sent me an email: they will charge after 2nd 150gb violation. haha
I'm getting consistence 6mb downstream.

I've had uverse for like the last 5 years or so for TV & Internet.
Have not had any trouble.
I consistently get 15mbit down 1mbit up. Sometimes it appears as though the downstream is working faster than 15mbit, however, that is the highest tier that they offer in my area.

I've thought about switching back to comcast, but, they irked me. They promised to bury a new cable in my yard, and ran a temporary one along the fence outsider ... then, they never buried the cable. After a year of drama from them, with an unburied cable in my back yard, I switched to uverse.

Uverse is slow
I could get more bandwidth from comcast for the same or possibly less money.

That said, I don't monitor my data usage, but I am absolutely certain I have gone well beyond "250gb" many times in the past, though I haven't put together a new PC and downloaded my whole steam library in a couple of years...

We have it... They recently silently upgraded us from 15Mbps to about 22Mbps, and as far as we can tell there's no actual cap on our connection (the measuring tool isn't visible under the account the internet is under, and there's a statement on the site to the effect that if this is the case, there's no cap.)

Those assholes keep on sending me mail to sign up. They only offer 768Kbps, lol. If only they were competitive, so I could get rid of time warner.

I have u verse and use a ton of bandwidth. Never have any issues. My cap is 250 and I have had to go over it at least once or twice. 150 cap would be no problem for me to go over. I think my average use is between 140-160.

These customer reps are full of crap. The first one told us no cap and we signed up. My wife asked several times and was told no cap. I call in and speak to another rep and of course there is a 250 gig cap

Several things to consider ...

AT&T is the phone company and they had their first law suit against them more years ago than the oldest member on Anandtech. Also, sales and market are completely independent from reality, so you actual service will vary. Also, if you use the actual U-verse and not some legacy ADSL service then AT&T said all information transmitted across those U-verse paths are theirs to do what they wish. And yes, AT&T most certain is using Deep Packet Inspection to see what you are doing.

I have the uverse 24mb with 3 connected computers all gaming, streaming and downloading, never got a notice for exceeding cap.

if and when I move I'm going top make sure I can get google fiber.
