i have a DVR box sitting in front of me scientific atlantic box. model: explorer 8300HD. catch 22 is i dont have a HD television. it's showing 1080i hookup if that helps

If they have the Motorola DCT6200 DVR, it does.

well, all i know is the standard box they give ouy, the gray DVR box thats the "explorer 8300HD", i don't think it has firewire capabilities. check http://www.scientificatlanta.com/consumers_new/CableBoxes/8300hd.htm. i iddn't see anything firewire here...you might wanna check it out. maybe you will have to buy your own, idk.

The easiest way to get a box with firewire is to call your local cableco location (they should have a local service depot/payment center...you may have to fight to get this number from a national support line). Ask to speak to their stock manager and ask him what boxes they lease with firewire ports. They have to provide one.
