Who here has a Traeger Pellet Grill?

I've had fish cooked on the pig-style grill before and it was excellent. Everything I've read says it's the king of grills - you get the best of both charcoal (flavor) and gas (speed). Plus you can use it for smoking! I've been looking at an all-in-one machine and had my eye on the Chargriller Duo (gas + charcoal), but Traeger's smaller models are around the same price. I know there are a couple Traeger owners here so I wanted to get some input! 🙂

Edit: Also, where are some good places to get pellets? And are there any recommended accessories?

Huh. Wood pellet grills.

I've been kicking around the idea of installing a pellet boiler in the house for the central heat, instead of the oil boiler. But they're pretty expensive and their aren't a lot offerings for them in the US. I want to see how things shake out in the next few years regarding pellet supply.

My friends have a pellet heater in their dining room. It's nice because you just dump in the bag of pellets and turn it on. Plus you can close the doors and it heats up the room real nice, for cheap! Although, if the electricity goes out, you're hosed because the blower is electric. Also, heating pellets are different than cooking pellets because they use chemicals (not too good to smoke your food with haha).

I looked into them and the video of Terry Bradshaw obnoxiously whoring himself for Traeger on the Tonight show was enough for me to decide NEVER to consider buying one.

You wouldn't consider an awesome product just because they had a dumb advertiser? 😕

I will go to my grave not knowing what Mentos taste like for that reason, why not a grill?

My brother has a Traeger and absolutely loves it! He has made some really good pork, beef, chicken, ABT's, etc... Poke around here for a great forum about all sorts of smokers.

BTW, He got a great deal on his Traeger through a Craigslist ad.

Edit:

He can get his pellets from Ace hardware locally, or there is a lawn mower parts shop here that sells Traeger stuff as well.
