Who here had the BH6 Celeron combo?

Who had this combo. When I was a kid my dad used to be always fooling around with his. He had a celeron 350 i think it was and overclocked it to 450. I was just wondering if everybody else had this same combo or was it just my dad who liked it.

It was Cel 300 --> 450

4.5x multiplier from 66MHz FSB to 100 MHz FSB.

Yes, I had one. In fact, I think I still have it somewhere. It was used for my Linux server up until about 18 months ago or so.

Lol... I was running one, up until about 2months ago..

I still remember, I bough a Cel366 (wasn't?) and tried to overclock it to 550, but it wouldn't go, so I returned it to the store and got a Cel400, (they had stopped making the 366's then) and I got the 400 to goto 500, in my BX6 R2 (basically the same as a BH6.

But a few months ago, I realised, what a mess my computer was, and for the records i'm a bit of a geek, and do quite a bit on computers everyday... I was going to make a real cheap stepping stone upgrade tho, and so I purchased a Celeron 2 (1.2ghz) and overclocked it 1.6.. I know it could go ever higher, but I need to give it more voltage, and the motherboard (still the same BX6 rev2) won't let me.. I even purchased a new radeon 9800se (planned to open up all the 8 pipes over the 4) but it wouldn't fit in my AGP 1.0 slot 😛

Anyways, the celeron 1.2 cost me like 30something bucks (penuts) and it's done pretty well imo.. but I do need a serious upgrade.

So i'll be buying a X2 when I can find one in Australia 🙂

who didn't have that combo? 😉

266 --> 450Mhz here, still remember the stepping (SL2QG). I still remember my buddy spending hundreds on his 450MHz CPU, all while telling me that the lack of L2 cache was a bad idea. When my machine ran everything just as fast as his, that hole in his pocket burned a little deeper I think!

Aah, the good old Celeron days...

300A @ 450, succeeded by
566A @ 850, succeeded by
1200 @ 1740

then the Athlon64 days came...
but the secondary rigs still run the latter @ 1600 (living room box) and another 1300 @ 1.3v (Studio box)
🙂

I just gave mine to my uncle a week ago. Still running like a charm... 300@450.
Will be sufficient for surfing and occasional document or spreadsheet 🙂

366@550 on a BM6 with 196megs of ram. I just installed XP on it a few days ago to play some diablo 2 with my wife and nephew. That game is still fun. I am also very impressed with how well XP ran on it. Although it was a clean install and I only ran that one game, but still.

One of the best, if not the best motherboards I've ever owned. When I got it I started with a Celeron 466 with a slocket converter, then moved to a PIII-550, then added an ATA133 controller card. It was as close to a bullet proof system ad I could have asked for. I sold it to my nephew who used the crap out of it and gave it to his step mom a couple of years ago. They replaced the CMOS battery but it's still going strong as far as I know.
