i have a friend who will be 32 on new years eve.

he hasn't moved out of his parents house. has like 250k+ saved up. drives a mercedes AND an S2000.

he once considered buying a new bed, and he said he liked his bed because it had sentimental value . so he's sleeping on the same bed he got when he was like 8 years old. he makes like $110k a year.

I have stopped trying to convince him to move out figuring its pointless. he's an only child and likes living at home and i will never understand him.

he has one. or well sort of.

he lives in LA and he has a "girlfriend" that he met playing world of warcraft 3-4 years ago who lives in san jose.

no i am not kidding , i am 100% serious. she moved from delaware to san jose to be nearer to him (though she could have just moved to LA...) .

He is a software engineer yet wont move to the bay area (where tons of companies would pay him to do that, but he'd have to leave home). she hates los angeles.

I asked him what exactly he plans to do with that money given it seems like he plans to live at home forever (only child, parents are old... in theory he'll inherit their house). and he doesnt know. other than he's gonna buy an M5 (a used one, for $60k, becuase well he wouldnt want to pay for it new since he says he cant get cars new anymore after his mercedes).

guy has every game system / home theater / gadget known to man. i've known him since we were 6 years old, and i still dont understand him.
 
Forget "making it" and worry about getting satisfied.

Someone's making it could be another person's broke. And I think it's silly to assume making it is based on money.

In my book, making it was finding contentment, which I have found, while not even making 40k/yr and married to a woman who makes me smile everyday.

That's makin' it...
