I made my own. But I go to a upper middle class high school so probably less than 20 or 30% are on reduced and not very many on free.

My dad never forgot the shame of getting a free lunch at school, so he would not allow us to participate even during lean years when we probably would have qualified.

My kids went to an elementary school that had such a high percentage of kids who qualified that they got funding to give ALL the kids at school free lunch, whether they qualified for free, reduced, or didn't qualify. So they ate for free with everyone else, even though we were way, way over the limits.

Seemed to me like 90%+ of the people in my Elementary school got free or reduced priced lunch, and over 50% in MS and HS got the same thing.

I had to pay full price for my lunches. How about the rest of you, did you get free lunch?

Free lunch is mandatory for all elementary schools in Sweden so yes :)

No school I attended had a cafeteria. Bring your lunch, go home and eat, or hit up the convenience store up the street - those were the options.

I once got a free lunch at an american highschool when I was visiting it with my school, I doubt anybody there qualified for free lunch though. it was a pricey private school like my own, they all had to wear uniforms which I found hilarious. the food was crap btw, at least by danish standards, seemed like all they had was junkfood.

I went to a private school the first 8.5 years so I didn't know anything about 'free' lunches. We were poor, and some days all I had was a peanut butter sandwich...

When I went back to live with my dad and his 2nd wife, she was a cheapskate and they sent me to public school... and that's where my eyes were opened to integration bussing, free lunches, pregnant 15 year-olds, drugs and alcohol, and nonsense like that.

Our lunches were only .60, by the time I was a Junior I was buying my own lunches (I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to pry money away from The Wretch) so I figure if I could afford $3 a week for lunches, why can't everyone else?

Dad's 2nd wife was soooooo cheap, I'm surprised she didn't find a way to qualify me for free lunch... I used to find 'government' cheese and butter in the fridge, sometimes.
