Who here can't wait until the Ghost in the Shell series' come out in HD

I bought ghost in the shell 1 on DVD a long time ago and it is jaw-dropping.

I have Ghost in the shell 2 in 1080p and it is twice as good. :|

I can't wait for that.

<---been listening to the soundtracks ALL day today😀

all of it. movies and tv series. They are expensive as hell right now:| Worst, they parade the line "made from the original high-definition masters" in your faces all the time:|

I bought akira, I bought Evangelion, I bought GiTS 1, but for the rest of GiTS, I will wait for HD, and then I will buy it all

So you mean they have Akira, Evangelion, etc on HD but not GITS for HD? So what's that $200 price tag for?

No, no. I meant that I bought akira and evangelion and the first GiTS and am fine with the DVD quality. Akira, is a brillaint masterpiece that doesn't need HD (evangelion not so much😉 ). Hell, Akira is in anamorphic IIRC so it is alreay awesome.

I am just saying, since I KNOW that they have GiTS in HD and since so many companies are already takign preorders for bluray/HD-DVD, why not just wait?

I meant 'can't wait' figuratively....

THis is why I am waiting😀

Btw, I've posted this one already but just wanted to show it to those who haven't seen it.

It is in h.264 @ 1080p so you need a pretty heft system to run it. my amd 64 3000+ stutters just a little so be forwarned.

Jsut imagine though, iirc, that clip,@ 100MB, is at LEAST 4 to 7 times as small as the original. I believe it was 400 or 700MB..it's been so long😱

<--can't wait for blu-ray or HD-DVD

Would the elecard h264 decoder help with the stuttering? Just wondering since my A643200 @ 2.3 does the same.

Regarding GITS, I thought the first one was better story wise. The sound track is pretty awesome. 🙂

1. I always had problems with that decoder. Try VLC or the nero player@ nerodigital.com. FFdshow sould also work too. It is jsut mpeg 4 albiet AVC

2. Agreed 100%. GiTS 2 is pretty far out..but so so purdy😛

The first one was so good that it left me speechless. The second one was too philosophical to be entertaining at times.

Sort of like in the tv series where the tachkoma's go on about individuality and the definition of self

1080p on standard DVD's? I know absolutely nothing of Ghost in the shell....so can they only fit like 1/2 episodes per DVD? Also what DVD player do you have that outputs at 1080p or are you just watching on your PC?

I didn?t give the series a chance yet. I downloaded 2 different subbed versions of GiTS2, and the first one was really great at explaining all the philosophical references. I had to hit pause about a thousand times to read all that but it was a lot better then just reading what they say and scratching your head in confusion.

1080p? it's playing at 1280 x 688 according to media player classic, and no stuttering at all, about 40-50% cpu usage on a 3ghz p4.

nontheless, it's quite beautiful.

m....probablly the wrong clip😱 I deleted a lot because of space.

Just a note, it works beautifully with elecard codec. Had to disable h264 in ffdshow for it to work. Too bad its a demo.

Don't remind me of GITS 2. I loved the movie but the DVD really makes me mad. They intentionally flubbed the subtitles by making the subtitles also the captions. I sent in a request for a replacement and never got a reply back. They now label the DVDs as if they are the corrected version at retailers, V4, but they aren't. Grrrrr.

If you just get in on the pre-orders (2nd season) you can get the volumes for less than $18 shipped to your door.

You can find the first season running $14-$18 shipped.

I'm not going to be waiting for HD since I won't be an early adopter.

*looks at Betamax deck in the corner*

I learned my lesson.

the films would look interesting. but the tv? i dunno, they have very limited budgets for anime, if its target was sd tv its not going to upscale well. meh, gits had interesting music and a few interesting animated segments, but the stories as a whole just didn't hold up for me.

Is there a big difference between 720p, 1080i, and 1080p?

Any screen shots or something to show examples?
