It's just that I haven't seen any difference between the $200+ jeans they sell at high end stores, and the jeans they sell at J Crew or Gap. Last pair of jeans I bought was around $70 from J Crew. I don't see myself ever buying $200+ jeans because cheaper ones look and feel just as good.

besides, Im not trying to impress anyone

You might not care about the difference between Gap jeans and say something like Buffalo or Mek jeans but the difference is there. I don't shop a whole lot but I'll always get good fitting and nice clothes though they end up costing me a lot more. When my size was bigger, I used to shop at Gap all the time and while those are good clothes, there are others that are a lot better.

I don't really wear jeans. But was shocked to learn how many people I know buy jeans for $200, $250, and even over $300. Is this a common thing now, buying high end jeans.

It's very common among pretentious a-holes.

or people who like to dress nice...

I rarely pay more than $20. There's really no need to. I just get Wranglers from Target. Jeans aren't a fashion statement. The jeans I get last a long time.

Spending $200 on a pair of jeans is just stupid.

there was a guy I used to work with....he was 25, had a 6 year old son, wasn't married, and lived in his grandmother's basement. He had $10K+ in credit card debt, drove a new car with high monthly payments, and still managed to buy gucci shoes, and $300 jeans every payday. Im not kidding, in the 7-8 months that I worked with him, he must have ordered (and showed me) 4 pairs of gucci shoes, and 5 pairs of $200+ jeans.

I've tried on Buffalo jeans....I didn't notice a difference.

the price tag on the piece of clothing doesn't mean you're going to look good; people have this misconception that other's can see the price they paid for something when they're wearing it

So this is basically a "calling casiotech" thread?

And to answer your question, I do. But I'm in the vast majority here on AT 😛

For $200 they'd better pleasure me multiple times a day while I wear them. I think the most I've spent is maybe $40.

Short of using the receipt for your jeans a business card, I don't think many people spend enough time looking at others to take notice of what brand of jeans they are wearing.

Yeah, right, I'll never buy from J. Crew again. I bought a pair of jeans there and after wearing them for a couple years, holes developed under the back pockets. I don't even carry wallet in those pockets! I've never seen this happen in any jeans I've ever wore.

The Calvin Kleins I got from Costco hold up well. $50 Levi's I got from Macy's hold up well too.

Sure, but the difference here is that a $200 pair of jeans and a $50 pair of jeans are going to have a similar performance. In most cases you're literally paying to have a different name printed on them. If $200 jeans are 4 times as durable and are guaranteed to last 4 times as long as regular jeans in regular conditions, then they might be worth it... but I doubt you're going to find a pair of jeans that'll last 15-20 years.

A $200 video card and a $50 video card aren't likely to perform in a similar way, have a similar warranty, or even do the same job.

disagree

a $30 pair of lucky's from Costco and a $110 pair of lucky's from the store feel entirely different.

I don't even wear my costco pair anymore because they feel so horrendously deficient compared to my "real" pairs.

lol, right....I've also heard that wearing True Religion jeans makes you lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks

I think you've lost your mind

you can tell me that you prefer expensive brands...fine, theres nothing wrong with that. You can also tell me you enjoy it when people notice what brand your jeans are, nothing wrong with that either.

But dont tell me theres a quality difference between $50 jeans and $300 jeans, and please dont tell me that it makes you more confident. If that is what you rely on to make you confident, you've got issues

I think he said 'to look nice'. Not to look like a branded label.
