I'm just used to taking it off I guess ...

My previous jobs, we just had it off ...

Last year, I got to put in some extra hours in the weeks before and just take it without docking personal time. Which was cool 'cause I actually put in the extra time --- everybody wins ... they also said you could use sick/personal time if you didn't want to dip into vacation ...

This year we have to use vacation time ... which is sparse anyways ...

*shrug* ... my brother is coming to town, so I'll take the day off no matter what. Family > * ... but I'm miffed about it ...

If they bill me out, and I put an extra 8 in ... no blood no foul ... @@
 
No. I'd rather work though. I'm a contractor so I don't get paid for that day. At the place I used to work the office was open Friday but very few people came in. I'd always show so I could get paid and do jack all day.
 
I have to take a vacation day or come in...the office is open.

I'm probably taking off though. I work across the street from the 2nd biggest mall in the country (King of Prussia), and on the other side is a Best Buy/Toys R Us. I don't want to be anywhere NEAR this place on black friday.
 
This is the first year that I have off the day after Thanksgiving. I've had to work friday for all my previous jobs.
 
I do tech support for Borders... if there's a Borders store open, I work. I volunteered to work on thanksgiving... for double time and a half.

In the same boat. Don't really mind though. It'll be quiet on friday, most people are taking the day off anyways.
 
Nope, but we have to work New Years Eve... which is freaking retarded. Come in Monday, off on Tuesday, back on Wednesday.

 
I work on Fridays.
I do not "have to" work this Friday, but it's a scheduled work day.
If I wanted to take this Friday off, it would be the same procedure as taking any other Friday off. (email to the boss to use a vacation day, or if I was sick I would call in in the AM and use a sick day.)
 
Yes, I'll be working but I'll just be working from home. Should be pretty slow and there is usually a shortened workday anyway.
 
No, I get Friday off. A lot of people are taking Monday through Wednesday off using vacation too... thought about it but decided to get a huge Christmas break 🙂.
 
I work Thanksgiving and the day after, 12 hours both days. That's power plant life, though, and I'll make a killing as both are paid holidays.
