I was saying your conclusion was acceptable, yet most likely statically irrelevant.

It doesn't have to be a conspiracy to be a causality, it's just a measure of the system.

I personally do not think IQ tests are the best measure of intelligence, a lot of the tests are leaned knowledge which is generally a measure of your experience, not your potential.

They pulled me out of class and gave me one of those tests as a kid, but I never put much weight in the results, the capacity to adapt is the key. Naturally inquisitive people with a passion to learn seems to be the dominant trait that provides real world results imo.

Not the ability to soak in whatever comes their way and store it. (although will help if you were on Jeopardy)

Ok, I see where you are coming from.

Perhaps the question should be which ideology is most egotistical about their "self-perceived intelligence".

Exactly. I hope you have noted I defend conservative intelligence as equal to anything else. The science says this. The difference is that conservatives are more likely, scientific data, to use their intelligence to rationalize their beliefs. You, for example, can see what a great speaker Obama is and not seem to credit his character as the source of his depth and capacity. That makes no sense even though the first part took intelligence to see.

Let's see... Which group is it that thinks the Earth is 6000 years old and that the Flintstones is historical fiction because man lived alongside dinosaurs in the recent past?

I'm going to vote for the other group.

Moonie, we all rationalize our beliefs. BTW, scientific evidence indicates that liberals are much more likely to misunderstand conservative viewpoints. Perhaps this is a case in point.

Here’s a question for you…do we choose our political ideologies or do our brains choose them for us?

I'd be willing to bet that the I.Q. spread of both groups is similar, and reflects the I.Q. distribution of the general populace.

Except that higher I.Q.s amongst the rabid left and rabid right would be rarer than exceptional I.Q.s amongst the moderates of either group.

That's just my guess though.

Remember what I have said about the blind asking questions. We rationalize our questions too. Why can't we partially choose our ideology and have them partially chosen for us by your brains. We don't even know if brain difference is environmental of genetic. My suspicion is that fear based conservatism is caused by autocratic threatening parents. Furthermore, there is the whole issue of professional brainwashing the parties all engage in, religious brainwashing etc. And who knows how many other possibilities there may be that I don't see.

You apparently perceived that my question was rationalized into a false dichotomy. There was no intent to do so.

My suspicion is that all human beings have highly biased reasoning skills (brainwashing). Proof being is that most people actually believe the nonsense they say to other people.

We are flawed creatures that have a basic need to confirm ourselves at every opportunity. Liberal or conservative, we use "reason" to affirm our biases and this perversion becomes our "truth". We are hopelessly flawed creatures...unaware that this perceived "need" to gratify our ego is the very thing that hinders any realistic pursuit of truth. Moonie...try as you might...you are not immune.

And who am I to say such things?

You are a person like myself who sees that the greatest human flaw is to see in others what is true of oneself. However, and this is important, in my opinion, I know personally that I spent most of my life destroying my sacred cows. Everything I held sacred I smashed. I know personally what it means to die to my own truth. Secondly, when science looks into this matter, they see that it is conservatives with the ego attached to their beliefs, truthiness, a smug certainty of rightness, the certainty of being right and the ego satisfaction about that. This has been scientifically demonstrated to be more true of conservatives than liberals, and precisely why it doesn't get through to them. They don't believe any science that conflicts with their altered reality.
