Companies need to stop being selfish with upload speeds 🙁

I agree. I had a friend that lived not too far from me that was getting 6Mbps down/ 1Mbps up! I forgot who the provider was, but I'd LOVE to have that upload speed...and the download speed will do too. 🙂

Wow...I am on dialup (I refuse to pay 50 bucks for comcast), I didn't know there were ISP's that gave 5 mb for 40 dolllars per month! I think it's time for me to move

I get 10mbit down, and 1mbit up on a home connection. Optimum online baby. I had to wait 4 years for it with crappy verizon dsl, but it was worth it. I got plenty of jpegs @ over 1200k/sec downloads to back it up.

Jesus Christ that is AWESOME! I'd bust out my own webserver with that kind of upload speed.

Heh, go to the second tester link, run the test, hit refresh on the results page when it's done, and then hit the back button.

255000 kbps 😀

2004-05-25 18:01:28 EST: 2525 / 472
Your download speed : 2586295 bps, or 2525 kbps.
A 315.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 483767 bps, or 472 kbps.

3M down / 256K up ... comcast cable
though I have been considering switching to a 3M down / 768Kbit up DSL line (though it would wind up costing me $72 per month)

Well, it's only about 120k/sec, nothing to amazing.. and, Optonline kind of sucks with uploading because if you up too much in a short time they'll cap your ass so fast it's not even funny. It's already happened to me once, so I had to call and complain my internet was slow, and act like I didn't know why. Upload will go down to 16k, and download will stay the same. If you are careful though, it's a nice speed whenever you need to send friends stuff. You can get away with files a few hundred megs, but I wouldn't do it more then once every few days. I'm not sure what there quota is, but I do know it's done automatically in their system (or so they say). Speaking of speed, I read something about verizon wanting to expand because of competition with cable, and that at the end of this year or sometime next year they are supposed to have home connections of up to 30 megabits. I don't know how likely that is, but it will put optonline to shame (which is hard to do) and if the upload doesn't get capped... that'd be sick. You know, I just found the Article, heres the

lol, using that method this is what I get:

NOT photoshopped. I think I got you all beat 😀

My "home" connection (the dorm, but it has to count since my parents live outside the country) gets over 1.2 MB/s on certain connections (like Microsoft.com) but the bandwidth tester said I only got 7 mbit/s. Which makes me think it's screwed up, I've seen > 1MB/s on multiple occasions.

At work it's even better...I work at a local high school on a 100mbit network, and once all the kids and teachers are gone the speeds get INSANE. I think the fastest I've actually seen was on the order of 6 MB/s.
