Atari 800 at 1.79MHz with 48kb RAM. No overclock necessary with the speed this thing has.

Man you should see that thing count when I run a assembly language counting loop! Stand back and watch the digits fly.

I can beat that one and it still works too! It was my first PC.

ELT Motherboard
286/16Mhz
1Meg DIP Ram
2x40Meg Conor IDE Hdd's
Trident 1Meg ISA Video
200Watt Power Supply
USR 14.4 ISA Modem
Dos 6.22 & Windows 3.1

I kept it for the fun of it and it still works perfectally after all these years. Even the old 40Meg Conors still work error free!

Suprisingly it only cost me around $650 at the time. The dood that sold it to me was very cool and gave me a very good deal.

It cost about 8K too, back in '88 i think.

Hey, i've still got a IBM ps/2 model 30 comp working well. Back when the 30meg hard drive was like a really expensive option. We have dual 3.5 floppies instead. Those IBM keyboards were built like brick outhouses. They last forever. I remember playing Bards Tale over and over again on that comp.

Athlon XP 1700 "Palomino"

MSI KT3 Ultra mobo
MSI GeForce4 Ti 4200 64MB

I am also waiting for the Radeon 9700 price drops. :D

This new rig is sweet!.

BTW I got my 9700 non-pro OEM thru dell (shudders), it was only $124!!!

the TV-out is the best part.

I've got wireless keyboard + mouse combo to make couch surfing as effortless as possible on the 36" Sony WEGA!

I wonder what kind of setup Anand has got himself considering he has access to every latest part and usually before they are allowed to post reviews about it. I mean, they have to send it like a week before he posts the article so that he gets time to do stuff. So basically, he and all the other reviewers could have the ultimate rig before anyone else...

For what its worth:

512 meg Geil PC3200 C2-3-3-6
Radeon 9700 pro
Maxtor 80 gig fluid bearing 8 meg cache
HP C1599 DDS2 dat, Compag 35/70 gig DLT
Phaser 850 Network printer ($3200)
Pioneer A05 DVD burner

I'm sure I'm not the fastest, but it does me fine, and I can run anything, and print anything.
