Who has the coolest alarm clock?

Looking for a new alarm clock, preferrably with the following features listed in order of importance:
  • dim-able display so its not bright at night
  • dual alarms
  • able to project onto the ceiling
  • wake up signal other than regular alarm beeping or radio. like those ones that detect your sleep cycles and slowly fade in

I've checked out Amazon and eBay and there's nothing really there that catches my eye.

Was wondering if any of you have found a really nice one on some obscure website?

Love the ceiling display but I found myself looking at it all the time so it became distracting. Most decent clocks will have two alarms now, as well as the dimmer.

Aside from the ceiling display have you tried an ipod clock? It will wake you up to the song of your choice if I'm not mistaking, and you could make that something pretty cool.

I love my ipod clock but I only use it for charging and the radio itself. Be careful with it though, even really dimmed it throws off a lot of light in a dark room, the highest setting is like a floodlight.

EDIT: The clocks that wake you up by light (if that works for you) is a really good way to go but they are pretty expensive.

I have a kick ass Timex with atomic time, CD, nature sounds, multiple alarm, and a line-in jack. No overhead display though.

I got my mom one of those, with internal and external temp.

I had a clock that projected onto the ceiling once. If you are getting one, make sure the lens can turn. I didn't and it was useless unless you had it in the right spot, but that usually meant that you couldn't see the actual clock.

I mainly want the roof thing for my wife's benefit. The clock is on my side and she has to get up to see it. The ipod ones might be alright, but I'd prefer just a nice plain-ish clock with a nice blue glow. No fancy outside temperatures or picture slide show thingies. 🙂

I have a little Boston Acoustics alarm clock I bought at Target for $80 so I could wake up to something that has decent sound instead of the crappy alarm clock speakers I that I have had my entire life....

For its small size, this thing rocks...

i have a sonic bomb

http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-SBB500ss.../dp/B000OOWZUK

does not project on the ceiling but it does shake the bed

ive had it for 4+ years and its still working fine. there are an odd number of bad reviews on amazon however

I've got a cheaper model of that one

http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Alert-SB200ss-Alarm-Clock/dp/B000EX7LNM/ref=pd_sim_hpc_2

Works great, but I only use it as a backup alarm.

90% of the time the Gentle Alarm app for Android wakes me up perfectly fine.

Something that could possibly help: It's the poor man's version of those insanely-expensive "sun lamp" things that gradually turn on in the morning. The arrangement consists of a simple lamp timer and a lamp. I've got it set to turn on a few minutes before my fleet of alarm clocks starts to go off. I don't know if it actually helps me to start to wake up or not, but I had the timer already, so what the hell, why not. 🙂

Pfft. Toys. All toys. I've always wanted to take your basic cheapo LCD alarm clock and use the buzzer as a trigger. For what?

To close a relay, that turns on a compressor.

Compressor for? For a freight train air horn. Seriously. For those of you that live down south, where most of the trains run, where every day you may or may not get caught at a train crossing...you KNOW that sound.

fffFFFFWWWWWWUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! 😱 It's like 140db!

Now imagine that exact horn in some kind of box in your room, next to your bed. Hell, just in the room somewhere. NOW imagine it going off while you're sleeping off last night's libations. fffFFFWUAHHHHHHH!!!!!! 😵 You ARE AWAKE, period.

No, it's not. Are you that awake when your alarm clock goes off? If your answer is "yes", then you need to stop popping amphetamines until two in the morning, bubba.

Silencing an alarm clock should only be the most basic of physical activities. I.E. raise arm, stretch arm out "in that direction", slam arm down. (75% chance hand will smack snooze button. If not, wait for alarm again). NO. Your fake Stormtrooper gun alarm clock does not cut my mustard, mister.

Sony Dash, it even plays NetFlix...

That's what I came in here to say. I have a Sony Dash that I picked up from Amazon for $80 or so. It plays Netflix and Hulu, has customizable alarms, turns off it's screen when you schedule it to, has night mode, etc.

I have one of those, still doesn't fix the wife sitting up to see the clock problem.

Press a button on the phone for the display to come on? That's what I do... If I am like, "What time is it?" I just press a button really quick twice. It basically flashes and I go, "oh, that's the time... back to sleepy."

Why does she need to see the alarm clock? Isn't supposed to go off at the same time every day?? Wakey time = same... ?

You don't wake up throughout the night and wonder what time it is?
Sometimes it feels like you've been sleeping for 6 hours and you wake up and you've only been sleeping for one hour. That's a nice feeling.

Some cheap Timex alarm. Hate the effing thing. I hate alarm clocks and being woken up by noise in general. Way to tear me away from the middle of a dream. Not to mention the heart attack.
