Shakee's FTW!

<-------wakes self and realizes it's not 1976 anymore. :(

My personal rank of top 10

1. Mark and Monicas (Local Joint)
2. Alonzo's (Local Joint)
3. Round Table
4. Mountain Mikes
5. Ciro's (Local Joint)
6. Domino's
7. Pizza Hut
8. Digiorno (Local Grocer)
9. Tony's (Local Grocer, and my favorite frozen pizza to mod)
10. Little Cesar's

PJ's just doesn't rank for me at all.

But the best pizza here in Atlanta is at Fellini's.

Nope. Fellini's is pretty good but the best pizza in Atlanta is Rosa's Pizza on Broad St. downtown. Tony Rosa knows his pizza. Who do you think Fellini's goes through to order their pizza supply? Tony is Cremosa Food distributor sales rep also and places supply orders for Fellini's and bunch of local NY pizza joints like Oz, Grant Central, and Savage pizza. I used to order through Rosa when I had my pizzeria. I used the same recipe as Fellini's but tweaked it to taste better. :)

Best chain pizza is Mellow Mushroom.

Dang, I'd heard about Rosa's but never knew all this about the place. Time to head downtown for lunch :)

Dominos thin crust is completely delcious... especially the corner pieces. I also like their deep dish the best of any of the major chains. Pizza hut probably has the best hand tossed crust pizza. I'm not a huge fan of PJ, and Sbarro's pizza is just way too sweet for my taste.

Any number of local pizza places in NYC have pizza far, far better than any of the chains in the poll.

Uno Chicago Grill for me.

Or a slice of NY pizza. I went out there about a year ago and that's all I ate, breakfast lunch and dinner. The wife had spend a couple of years out there and was craving a slice, so I picked one up to bring back on the plane... but ate it. She was not happy. My stomach was though.

All of the OP's choices (aside from other) are terrible & Domino's in particular is bland flavorless crap ... it is to pizza what McDonalds is to hamburgers!

I suppose if I had to choose I'd go with Papa Johns, but its more likely I'd find somthing else to eat instead.

(of course I have a wide selection of top-notch local pizza places near me in CT so I'm spoiled)

How is this even a fair vote, when there's an "other" option? I'm near Chicago, we can put Lou Malnati's & Giordano's up there above all that. We've got tons of other smaller regional places, then all the locals. If I were to choose the ones above, I'd go Dominos, but it's a faaaar far distance behind everything else we've got in Chicago.

qft

anyone from NY or Chicago that buys pizza from one of the big chains is retarded. As someone else pointed out, not every place has good local pizza. When I lived in Florida, I ate lots of Papa John's. It was not bad, but horrible compared to anything in NY.

other: zachary's, among others. if anyone in the bay area thinks either of the ones listed is #1, you clearly don't go out enough.

of those listed, though, i think pizza hut. domino's isn't bad bang for buck. i don't like sbarro's. never had papa johns.

You know, I once calculated the cost per square inch of each of their special value prices. I don't think the 5-5-5 deal was the best. I think they had a large and a free medium, which may have been better.
I'd have to call them up again and ask for the diameter of each of their pizzas. The piece of paper that all of this was written on has long been lost.

My friend tried to do that once. I think he came up with 23 as the answer. He had just drank a liter of Finlandia quadruple distilled vodka so I don't think his answer was right...

Really? I'm in a town with only about 6000 people in the area and there are two locally owned pizzerias. The only chain one is Pizza Hut.

I live in a town of 20,000 and the only thing I can find is a small places that sells pizza and ice cream. Other than that, it's all chain. Of course, we have about 12 cajun restaurants.

Wow. Actually come to think of it when I lived in Louisiana, I don't recall any local pizza places. That's weird considering it was in a city that had like 80,000 people. Maybe my memory is a little fuzzy because I haven't lived there for 14 years. Or maybe the South just isn't big on local pizza.

I do miss all the cajun food though. I haven't seen any decent cajun food here in Washington.

Two places called Famous Pizza and Singas Famous Pizza in Queens, NY have great pizza.

I think that private Italian pizzerias probabl the best pizza.

Why so many votes for Papa Johns? Their sauce tastes like someone dropped a pound of sugar or pixie sticks into it.

Domino's and Pizza Hut aren't much better but at least the sauce isn't sweet.

Local pizza places are always gonna be better than any chain.

I don't mean the the poll itself is terrible, what I mean is that IMO ALL mass-produced pizza is terrible & I prefer not to eat any of it ... sorry for being unclear.

Maybe you could add "local pizza place" to the poll options?

Pizza is good, and I like their coupons.

Bargain pizza would have to be little ceasers
