It turns out that I'm 10% Druze and therefore 10% muslim. Allahu Akbarrrrrr!

I thought that was pretty interesting given the fact that one side of the family has been here since the 1600's and the other is Italian.
That is interesting as the Druze have an extremely closed society and rarely marry outside of their community.

My wife and I both did 23 and Me, with the health stuff too. Then she did Ancestry because it goes more in depth. The health stuff was neat, and was pretty much spot on. The back hair, balding, etc where all right for me as well as other stuff. Both tests for her were the same, just more in depth on one. I am exactly what I thought I was based on what I was told. My wife did not have any idea what specific country her family was from, so for her it was cool to see where her roots are from. Ancestry did go into more depth for her. And she is more Native American than Elizabeth Warren... which isn't hard I'll admit.

We did it last year when the same sales were going on, hard to beat the price.

The Druze seem pretty cool.

"Who were the Druze and what did they believe?
The Druze faith is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion based on the teachings of high Islamic figures like Hamza ibn-'Ali ibn-Ahmad and Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, and Greek philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle. The Epistles of Wisdom is the foundational text of the Druze faith."

"The Druze, also known as the "Sons of Grace," are a secretive, tightly-knit religious sect whose origins can be traced to Egypt a thousand years ago. They believe that God was incarnated on earth in the form of their leader, al-Hakim bi-Amrih Alla. The Druze do not have their own homeland."

learn more cools stuff every day.

Mom was full-blooded Italian, Dad was half Irish, half English.

I just got the results of my DNA test back and it claims that I'm Hungarian, Native American and Japanese.

WTF?

my wife and I did it. mildly interesting at most. Good to know about some of the health stuff. we decided to let them use it for all the research they do as well. My family has a history of cancer and genetic research has increased survival rates quite a lot.

You can opt in to allow them to use it for research but most of the benifit they get is from you answering endess questionaires about your own health. I've probably spent an hour or two answering stuff. It would be nice if they would give me something it return. (this is 23 and me).
