Who has had/has the flu recently

Now wait a minute I am not done...

Who has had/has the flu and did you get a flu shot?

I have not had the flu and I have not had the flu vaccine.

Actually verified having the flu twice in my life. Once when I was a kid I had the Hong Kong variety and was sick for like 2 weeks no flu shot not sure it was even available.

Second time I had it I was approx 15 years ago. I was very sick but only for 3-4 days and I had gotten a flu shot.

Since then I havn't bothered getting one.

I had it back in October. Now I've got a respiratory infection that my coworker called "the flu" but it isn't. Sure, I'm coughing up colored crap and my eyes hurt, but it ain't a flu. I get it often enough to know the difference.

Never had the vaccine.

I might have it, might not. I have some sort of plague right now. Yesterday was the runny (everything) portion of it. Better than the last week's runny ass portion of it.

I'm still recovering from the Influenza A strain (a strain not covered by the shot this year) - it's kicked my ass for the past week. I haven't slept more than 2 hours without a coughing fit, hacking up phlegm, etc. Though, I haven't really let it stop me; though, the farm chores don't get vacations, sick days, etc.

And, part way through the week, it hit me: spend as much time as possible with people who say idiotic things like, "I don't get the flu shot, and I never get sick."

that went trough my entire family. Kids got it first then mom and dad. Grandma visited the kids and got it and is in the hospital right now.

Wife got the shot and it didnt matter obviously since this strain isnt in that formulation.

Thing is I don't get the flu shot (or any other shots for that matter). I do get sick. I might get the flu, but like you I just keep on going. So does the rest of my family.

When we get sick, it's usually like a cold. At worst we get knocked out of commission for a day, maybe two days tops if it's REALLY bad, but that's even rare. Hell, when I was younger I used to get strep usually at least once a year if not twice a year, out of it for a week. I haven't had strep in I can't remember how long. What's different? I/we eat way healthier and hygiene is a lot better than when I was a kid and we push our kids to follow good hygiene too. Though the latter isn't easy with a teenage boy in the house, that's for damn sure.

Yea that's not the flu, that's just a cold. If you get the flu you will know. All your joints ache, coughing fits, throwing up, etc...

I had a really bad something right before Xmas. Stuffed up, throat felt like it was on fire, very lathargic. It eventually migrated into this cough that I still have. Was so bad some days I was dry heaving from coughing so hard.

I did not get the vaccine this year- no real reason, I almost always do (and no, I've never gotten sick from it...).

I've never had the flu to my knowledge, and from what I hear, it'll knock you on your ass and you'd know. I did get a cold this year but was pretty mild.

Worked overnight on the 27th, admitted 4 people with the flu. It's been pretty popular in my area starting mid November. Big flu year.

I don't bother because I don't get out much, I don't like being stabbed by pointy objects (there goes my future as an intravenous drug addict), I don't like waiting in line or scheduling to get stabbed, and I'm young enough that it shouldn't cause any major issues if I got infected.

Last time I got the flu was 5 years ago. And I went to work because I thought it was normal, seen favorably, and I got paid by the hour. Take that Corporate America...

My dad had the flu and I was by him for a week but did not get sick. It might have been from the flu shot I had gotten.

I typically get a minor cold about once a year. I don't think I've ever had the flu, though. I get the vaccine every year.

I'm also pretty careful about washing my hands before I eat, and I avoid touching my face as much as possible. Odds are pretty good that almost every rail and door handle we touch outside of our homes has been grabbed by someone sick who just got done coughing into their hand.

If you were able to show up to work, you had the common cold not the flu.

Yea the vaccine they choose was not effective against the most common strain this year. So getting the shot may not help as much as other years. Still better to get than not but I expect more illness and death this year from the flu.

Last time I had the flu was maybe 12? Never been sick since. I got the flu shot once and it gave me a splitting headache.
