There's a couple decent (well, "OK") mexican food places that sell food out of converted buses parked in nearly vacant lots

I'll eat there every once in a while when i'm hungry and happen to drive by -- but my daughter won't even try it.

Who eats there, and who's got a phobia of it?

with poll

Typical deal: 2 real mexican taco's for $1

I don't because there are a few clean restaurants that sell the same type of Mexican food (like the taco trucks, not regular Mexican restaurants). The mobile places are held to the same standards as other restaurants by the county health department.

I would try it if I was in the mood for that kinda food, but I don't pass them very often. I'm sure they are pretty good food for the most part. especially for the price

The food trucks here on campus are both cheap and (usually) delicious. I love them.

Roach coaches can be pure win, the ones that actually make food are held to inspections and standards. So Cal also has dudes with push carts (in the ghetto areas) where you can get ears of Corn that are coated with Mayonnaise and covered with Parmesan Cheese or chili powder. Those are GOOOOOOD! People who haven't ever ventured into a ghetto probably have no idea what I'm talking about. I could eat these once a week easy.

water supply on a truck has to be rather limited, which probably detracts from cleanliness

+1

Us Cali call it Taco Truch. Never heard of Taco Bus. Most of them are really good and are cheap. There's one about a couple blocks down from where I live. get something from there maybe once a week. Good stuff.

The "Endless Summer" truck in Williamsburg (that's Brooklyn, BTW, not VA) is pretty good. $6 seitan burrito FTW.

With our large Mexican population, we have an abundance of Taco Trucks. Some are very good, some are ptomaine on wheels.

In the bay area, the roach coaches seem to all be staffed/owned by Asian people and have a much wider variety of foods.

The "Cat on a Stick" is pretty good. SUPPOSED to be teryaki chicken, but no one actually believes that...:p

I used to eat the "5 speed" or "7 speed" burritos for breakfast on a regular basis. Those were pretty decent.

After a while, word gets out which ones are good, which ones suck, and which ones should just be blown up. (then the bad ones move...to keep you guessing) :D

Why is it that when I first read the title for this thread that I immediately thought of a roaming whore house in Vegas? Like the Madden bus but for hookers? :)

We used to have one of the all-time best hot dog trucks. It was so good it transformed from a truck into 2 B&M locations and wound up on the Food Network and History Channel and Travel Channel specials on the countries best dogs.

We had a "weenie wagon" where I grew up- I think it's still running- thos were damn delicious.
Where I live now, there are taco trucks, but I've never eaten at one. Not that I'm worried about cleanliness, rather I just am not a fan of mexican food in general. I might have to give it a shot though.
