Who has a female supervisor or boss?

Lola

I thought for a while having a female boss and being female were good but recently I and a coworker have come to realize that having a female boss is horrible.

It is very unprofessional that she cannot seperate work and her private life so when she comes in, she is pissy or angry because of something that happened in her home life.
The crappy part is that it is not just around a certain time of the month and she is PMSing... it is quite often and very hit and miss.

She will take her unhappiness out on myself and the other girl working with me.
We know NOT to cross her path if she is in a mood so we cannot ask if something is wrong or make her aware we know something is up.

Does anyone else have this issue? Sorry for the annoying and rather weak rant, but this is the 4th day in a row she has been like this. What do you do in a situation like this?

people that cannot separate their work and their home life SUCK whether they are male or female.

i've always had a male boss, no issues, and likely will keep it that way.

I've had one in the past, and I have clients that have females as department heads. I've worked with some that I would swear under oath are bipolar. The boss I had made my life an absolute hell for a few years. She was great to work with when everything was fine, but the problem was you could never tell when it would be. It made for a very uncomfortable time.

Sounds like your boss might have some hormonal issues. I've worked with great women that are outstanding leaders, and their emotional perceptiveness actually helped them in such situations.

Does she act like that toward men or is it just women? If so, she might feel a sense of kinship with you and therefore a greater ability to express herself that way.

I'd just approach her in a nonconfrontational way and see what happens. No sense in suffering...

Perhaps it does have to do with hormonal issues, but the thing I noticed is that she cannot handle stress very well.
This is the only "real" boss i have ever had. All the other bosses were for p/t jobs and were male and were great to work with.

If anything, expereincing this makes me more concious of how i would/should act with other employees around me.

I've had feamale bosses that were great and one that was similar to yours. In my case, bosses don't usually last very long where I work so all I had to do was wait it out.

I am just a link in a chain. I am male, the people below me are male. The person directly above me is male, but the person above him is female. The person above her is male, and the LT over him is female. The females don't do much with the day to day operation of the work center though, they mainly handle management, administrative issues, etc. We used to have females working on the maintenance floor, but not any more. We do have a few females on our inbound list, but they won't get here until late in the year.

My direct supervisors have usually been male, but when I was in tech school, I had a female MTL. She was a b*tch pretty much all the time, though the male MTLs were not much better.

Not really but i cannot say that in all fairness because there is just her, myself, another lady and my bosses husband. And, she is really mean to her husband at work when she is all-around-mad.

i've had 3 female bosses in my life. 2 of them were constantly miserable and on a power trip and would take it out on everyone beneath them (especially the men) the 3rd boss was actually really cool. very laid back and didn't give a sh*t about anything.

Sounds like she's just a b*tch. Sucks to be you. Try and talk to her about it, explain that she can be a bit harsh and that it's affecting you and the other girl negatively, failing that talk to either her boss or someone who can liase with him/her on your part.

My female work boss is just peachy. Easy to get along with, professional, and personable.

My female home boss is harder to get along with, but she's in the last month of a pregnancy, so we'll let that slide :p

My boss is female, and she's very professional, yet friendly at the same time. I've never seen her angry, and she's handled frustrations very well, from what I've seen.

HR ftw?

Unless you don't want to rock the boat, in that case suck it up and leave it alone.

She's just a b!tch, there are male managers who are just as bad.
My current supervisor is female, and she's fine as far as it goes. She definately has quirks and issues, but they aren't directly related to her being female, IMO.

I worked for a guy, that had anger\resentment issues. He was a petty d!ck, and you never knew which way the wind was blowing 'til it was too late.

Women don't have a patent on bitchiness.
