Anything is fair game from 1980-1989 - no 1990 models.

Myself, I had a commodore 128, the 1581 and 1541 drives, a Commodore MPS-1200 Printer, a commodore 15 inch monitor, and I ended up with a 20 MEG harddrive 🙂

I had a kick-azz 2400 baud modem as well.


 
I dont remember exact specs, but I had an Atari 800XL with the actual "floppy" drive and a modem that you actually set a phone into🙂

Uh, I was using a 386 uhh SX 16? I believe. I could be a year early, if so I don't remember what the heck that thing was I used before my 386.
 
Tandy (1000 model I think). It was pretty far ahead in some areas (16 color monitor, 3 simultaneous musical notes could be played). It even came with the turbo option to take the standard 4.7 MHz up to 7.7 Mhz (I may be slightly off on the numbers).

Of course it was seriously lacking in other areas - memory was expensive (much more than the already expensive memory for computers of that time) and hard drives were not possible for most of its lifespan. When hard drives were finally made for it, they were double the price of other computer's hard drives ($600 for entry level).
 
I owned three computers in the 1980's.

First was some Texas Instruments with 16KB of memory. It also had a 300 baud cassette tape for loading stuff. Only thing I can remember loading was a text-based game called 'Adventure'.

Second was the C64, nothing too crazy there. 🙂

Third was some Radio Shack Tandy model with 256KB or 512KB of memory.

I guess none of the above would qualify as 'bad azz', though. 🙂

The 80s? Commodore 64 was it for me. I remember saving my butt off for a 1581 3.5" disk drive. Never had a hard drive!

The most I probably spent on a PC was for an Amiga, thought. I bought an Amiga 3000 when the first came out, then a 4000 when it first came out - loved them to death.

When I moved over to the PC world, my biggest purchase was an Orchid Farenheight 1280 video card - I remember it being one of the first VESA Local Bus video cards, but I think it was a proprietary slot (I had to pair it with an Orchid motherboard). I think that pairing cost me an arm and a leg.

Ahhh, the memories.

I had an Commodore Amiga 500 and a Commodore Amiga 2xxx something. The 2xxx was more powerful and loads of fun. I remember this one game called A.W.E.S.O.M.E. that was great and another called The Killing Game Show (was released on Sega Genesis as Fatal Rewind) that was also great. Of course I think it had some other apps and stuff, but a 6 year old only cares about games.

The Amigas easily smoked the rest of the other computers of their time.

As I recall they were the first PCs that truly multitasked- even before Macs.
