To bad I can't use it though. I have a sony pc right now and it only has a 270 watt PSU.

I guess I just have to wait for my new computer

uggg. i got at compusa at 5:10 thinking for sure i would get the 6800. I rushed in the store and was 6 in line for vid cards. BUT the store had NO geforce 6800's... omg aojfoawejgoaweotjoawetgojwoae. Me and the 40 others behind me almost threw a riot. We were able to order the card though and pay the low price.... so i just gotta wait :/

Got one on BF from the local store.

Screwd01, Did you get yours from CompUsa online or from the store? I really hope that mine can fully unlock. Did you flash the BIOS or did you just softmod it?

brought a GFB 6800OC from Best Buy Wed for $299(Far Cry Included).

Gave me artifacts at stock in 3d apps.. returned it today before work..

Checked Anandtech.. found out about PNY 6800 at compusa.. get last one on shelf at lunch(none in back.. found this on misplaced(yeah right) down the isle).

Returned exchanged shrink wrapped BFG 6800 also at lunch to best buy.

$100 saved... unless I re-aquire Farcry at EB used.

heck.. even $229 out the door was a great price.. nevermind the extra $30 MIR

Speaking of artifacts. I am getting artifacts with the PNY out of the box on 3dmark05 w/ directx9.0c installed. I have done no tweaking or anything.... it is artifacting right out of the box.

Anyone else having install issues like this?

I got one this morning at CompUSA. I stood in line around 5AM there, where there was only a couple of people until a half hour to 6AM, where a ton of people showed up. There seemed to be plenty of GeForce 6800s at the CompUSA I went to (Minnetonka, MN). Unfortunately, when I tried to unlock four additional pipes, I got checkermark graphics in Far Cry. :( However, the sixth vertex works fine; it's still a great card for a great price! :)

i waited at compusa... not really in line... i just stayed in the car.. i got there at 5 and there was only 20 people and by 6 it was about 100... but there were like 7 6800's there still... i wasnt sure if the card could unlock and so i decided to go check out microcenter cuz they had a evga 6800 for 240$ that i heard was guaranteed to unlock and so i go up there to find that none are left... but i keep looking around and i find a returned 6800 on the side.. the evga.. and the price tag on it was .. 191.99 :) brought it home and unlocked the 4 pipelines and the vertex, 3200 3dmark05 stock, 3600 w/ pipelines and vertex enabled. now my only problem is being able to OC... i cant overclock for some reason, rivatuner doesnt allow those options and the nvidia overclocking menu always says failed. any ideas?

If the nVIDIA overclocking menu says it failed, that means it's picking up artifacts that aren't noticable to your eye. I had the same problem. This thread at Guru3D discusses the issue:

Try testing out a game like Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Far Cry, or other games and make sure you aren't getting glitches there. While 3DMark 2003 looked perfect (no visual anomalies) when I unlocked four more pipes, I got checkermarks in Far Cry.

so far wc3 and cs on steam look fine... ill try source toight though...thats really crazy that i can't even OC for 1mhz... anyway does anyone know how to set nvidia's settings up for open gl or directx so that they work like ati... in cs it feels slower... and im trying to put it on all performance so i can feel that speed i had with my 9800.

Woot... Got me one today as well. The shelves were cleaned out of them, And I happened to ask a sales guy if they had any more and he had 2 of them stashed behind a counter. That was the easy part.... I spent 2 friggin hours in line to check out!!!

I set my alarm to get up at like 4:30 and go wait to get one, but just couldn't get up. So I slept in and got up at 10. Sat around for a couple of minutes and was like, "Hey, I got nothing to do.". So I drove over to the nearest CompUSA just to see if they had one and what do you know? They had 3 or 4 on the shelves and I asked a guy working there if they had any in the back (just curious how hot the item was). He told me that surprisingly not many people had bought them so they still had a good bit left. I grabbed one happily and went home. :D

I was able to clear up the artifacts on the directx 9.0c tests. It was due to the drivers not supporting the new directx. I downloaded the 66.70 drivers from Guru3D and I am off and running. Tomorrow I will try unlocking the additional pipelines through RivaTuner.

I got one in Norfolk VA. Had to ask if they had them in stock. They were hidden in locked shelves.
