ltj= less than jake : P.

ska punk band.

well pop punk with ska-reggae influences if you wanna be nitpicky.

they've been putting out solid rock for well over 10 yrs. They switched labels recently from fat wreck to warner bros, so unfortunately and fortunately they're gonna be plastered all over mtv soon : \.

LESS THAN JAKE, baby!!!

I got it, of course. I don't know how much I like it tho...even Hello Rockview wasn't as striking to me as Losing Streak. But I still have it going on the stereo and in the car...I'm more than glad to have new LTJ stuff.

I haven't heard their new album, but their older ones are definitely NOT pop punk.

I didn't care for Hello Rockview either, but I loved Pezcore and Losing Streak.

I didn't take it out of context. Pop punk is a specific sound these days. Simple Plan, Blink 182 and those of the like are considered pop punk and LTJ should be no where near them unless their recent album is something different than they have been doing.

simple plan and blink 182 is generic-regurgatated pop-punk.

you can't describe a genre with 2 artless bands.

but fine b/c i don't really care for aruging over labels.

we'll call it ska-punk? happy :D?

plus i said pop-punk with ska and reggae influences...

like i said you can't label a genre with just a couple mtv bands, and may god have mercy on your soul if you mention good charlotte. Anyway...it's like saying all prog/math rock sounds the same...thursday v.s. co|ca...def not same, yet both considered prog rock...nm this has no point : P, b/c someone's gonna argue over co|ca's label.

Pop punk IS a genre these days. I gave a couple of bands as an example. I don't care about what label a band is on, but there are certain sounds that go with each other. Rap, rock, progressive rock, alternative rock, classic rock, hip hop, trance, jungle and pop punk are all genres. LTJ doesn't fit into that genre but Simple Plan, GOOD CHARLOTTE and Blink 182 are part of this genre.
