What I really dislike are rappers that do not write their own music that they rap to. That's a lack of talent.

I didn't want to get involved in this thread, but after seeing this statement, I've just gotta ask: Why in the hell do you think this?? You call it skill, I call it something else.....

If you just like the beat, get into Jungle/Drumnbass ..

or breakbeats for that matter

Very nicely said, Sugadaddy.

There's lots of good talent in the rap/hip-hop scene. Unfortunately, there's also a lot of krap out there.

The local community station, KFAI, has an awesome hip-hop show called 2 The Break-a-dawn every saturday from 9-11 PM. The DJs bust out a lot of older stuff and play the best new rap they know. The show was particularly good tonight:). It's too bad I can't ever listen to the show straight through (I listen while I'm working) because I usually miss all the musical announcements, so I don;t hav a clue what I'm listening to:(.

"I know there are some talented rappers out there that don't 'try' to make themselves look stupid, but they seem to becoming rarer and rarer as the flood of crap on the rap market is taking over. [/b]Rappers like Juvenile, Black Rob, JaRule[/b]"

"* BTW, this is all with the exception to certain types of rap. It's hard to argue when you can't even separate the group you are focusing on b/c there is no specific formal label/category."

you all know perfectly well what category of rap I'm trying to distinct here... I thought I made it pretty clear. Oh well, I forgive you for the misunderstanding, just don't let it happen again :D

Oh and btw Lauren Hill is not rap. Maybe in your books, but not in mine... and either way her music is FORMALLY labeled as alternative. I believe Rage and Propellerheads also aren't categorized as rap, correct me if I'm wrong.

Her music is rap/R&B. She did get her start out with the Fugees doing rap and singing. Either way she rocks.
