no, i only receive about $3,000 a year in loans.

$3,000 x 6 years = $18,000.

but i don't know what about graduate school, it might be an overkill. :X

I'm hovering at around 60k.. all private loans. Unfortunately the financial aid office filled out my paperwork incorrectly for years and I didn't know... now that I'm paying it back I'm pissed off. Most of that shoudl have been federal loans but since it's already done.. I can't do much about it now :(

My monthly payment is about $500... and to think, it's only for a bachelor's degree. Stupid private schools!

Gigapet... what degree do you have now that it cost you $119k? Just curious :)

just to clarify 119k is what I will pay back when its all said and done with interest and capitalized interest. The orig loan amount was closer to about 80k as I had a presidential scholarship for the first year.

I can think of a handful of private schools up state that cost more than the school i went to.

Strange, but my parents paid for my small college education. My wife and I are planning to pay for our two daughters college education even if we have to sell our home to pay for it(this is highly unlikely) but we will sacrifice for our kids if need be. A lot of Chinese American parents are paying for their kids education...

I've got a 1k loan, and plan to keep it that way for the remainder of my degree, I'm half finished, so it shouldn't be too hard. Frankly co-op is the only reason that I'm able to keep my loans down and even at that that 1k loan was something I needed to take out after I frivilously spent a ****** load of money in my first year, but my money management has taken a 180 turn and I've got my system down pat so it shouldn't be to hard to finish off without any other loans.

I came out of university with a $10k loan. I worked hard, scrimped and saved and paid it off in 28 months. I hate paying interest on anything.

I got a good paying job right out of college. I was working there part-time during college (started in High School), and they hired me full time after graduation. I stayed at home for 2 years and paid my loans off during that time.

I went to UMD and graduated w/computer science degree and it took me 5 years. I owe about $19K. I have a payment of $60/mo for about a year, then it ups to like $125/mo for a while, then it maxes out at like $145/mo i believe.

I consolidated before the rates went up so it's not too bad. but yah, it sucks lol.
