who else thinks the new imac looks pretty dumb?

just about all the apple designs since the original imac in 97 have had something in common: a feeling of energy/passion created by really really good proportioning.

the new imac lacks it. I think it would all be fine and dandy if they just didn't have that big fat white space under the screen. get rid of that and it would be a very pleasing design.

this design looks outdated, not fresh and innovative like most of apple's stuff. it almost looks like something by one of the thousands of companies always trying to imitate apple's design.

Well the white space below the screen does ruin the lines of the screen some what. Their other option was to make the screen thicker but that would 'piss' some people off and the profile pic of the imac wouldn't look as good.

The white space might not be super attractive but getting everything to fit like that is pretty damn sleek

Looks awesome. It's a real step forward. I agree that it would be better without the white space, but that's functionality for you.

I'd love to get one for my mom if she knew how to use a Mac.

The PSU in the bottom should keep it fairly well balanced.

i agree, it doesn't fit into the imac family of design/looks. imo.

I agree with the white space at the bottom being fairly unattractive, and the new boxed off look isn't all that appealing.
However as is routine with apple stuff, once you actually see one you notice 1000 different things that just overwhelm you.
Even the fairly mundane eMac isn't quite so bad in person. However that said, i think the new design is kludgy like the emac.

I personally HATE the computers like this (this also applies to the "PC" versions of this), laptop computers on a desktop... Talk about screwing your IT dept... theres going to be very little you can do to upgrade/repair this w/o sending it back to apple.

I know I tell people to NEVER buy these types of computers and when they break (and they do, no computer is perfect) they bitch when theyre out of a computer for a week, and I give em an I told you so.

I think they look rather nice, when I saw it for the first time, I couldn't believe I hadn't thought about doing something like that before. You're just taking a laptop and melding the screen onto it. It's genious!

Though I wonder how hot it gets inside that thing...

Though they could've used a better GPU.

Upgrades aren't a concern. And how do you think Apple support works?
