Ray's Mom & dad were by far the funniest characters IMO. Some of the episodes of which I thought were extremely humorous.

Although I was not a "regular" my ex-wife never missed an episode.

Peg beat Deb hands down.

Ray's Mom & Pop were the biggest reasons I couldn't watch the show. There were a few other shows where the Mom and/or Pop totally destroyed the show.
 
Peter Boyle may have been OK given how he did the Monster with Gene Wilder, but that Doris Roberts thing was just grating. She all but ruined Remington Steel and another sitcom years earlier.

While you are of course entitled to your opinion and comedy in particular is completely subjective, Doris Roberts had a long and very successful acting career winning multiple awards. (at least according to her millions of fans and her peers)

she was freakin hilarious sometimes. like a combination of both of my grandmas, lol

the fruit of the month bit had me rolling every time i watched it

because i had experienced bizarre reactions exactly like that from grandparents on multiple occasions
