Who Else Smokes Cigerates To get Breaks from work?

yea. that is why i started. i used to work for this pizza place. And i started smoking because they let u smoke in there. and u would get breaks because of it.

it was a sweet job though.

I started, because I hated my job and wanted everyone else to hate me as well. Then I died, so I got the sweetest break ever.

No offense, but that's a pretty retarded "reason" to smoke.

I've thought about starting for that reason. Health.. eh, I'm just lazy instead, just waiting for someone to say something so I can come back with something about how I don't take breaks.

I didn't start smoking to get breaks.... But I definately smoke more because it gets me out of work.

Agreed. Pretty stupid reason. I'd hate to discriminate against smokers, but if I were a supervisor and had to cut some personnel from the payroll, the candidates for that list would be the slackers who take 20 smoke breaks a day and stand outside in front of the office building to do it. :Q

i sorta did that in the navy
during school, the smokers would go out on the smoke pad and shoot the breeze. non-smokers sat inside
so i went out with the smokers and smoked

that's a great reason to start smoking

I'm thinking about having a couple of kids so I can use the "sorry, won't be in today....sick kid" excuse. I should be golden!

At a previous job I got so fed up, I took non-smoking breaks. Randomly I'd exit for at least 10 minutes an hour and hang out front. I told my supervisor if everyone else did it I was too. . .

This thread confirmed what I thought for years:

Morons who want to waste time and money smoke to kill themselves:thumbsup:

Good job guys:roll:

cant. technically its considered school grounds, so smoking is strictly prohibited. if i wanted to, id have to walk outside my building, walk through the parking lot, walk down a flight of stairs and go across the street. all for a quick smoke. i just wait until im at a social event (and i dont even smoke cigs, b&m cigars mainly).

edit: btw, yes i have co-workers who go through that hassle and there are some who do it for the easy-break reason.

You know, I have a daughter and I've really never used her as an excuse to miss work. If there was something like her having to stay overnight in the hospital, I just used a day of vacation.

I have no support for those who use their children as an excuse not to show up for work. It's up to the employee to ensure their Plan "B" is in place in the event Plan "A" doesn't work out for them.

We had a person who did something like that. However, he took so many 10-minute breaks, we could never find him at his desk - and his work never got done. Unfortunately, he didn't last very long with the company.
