I am talking tv, music etc.

I was looking at a new issue of Entertainment Weekly and it amazes me how out of it I am.

Hey dude it's a bitch to keep up. I try to stay in touch with the music scene but don't try with the TV. Most of that you can have. Even so, there's vast areas of the music scene that I'm just utterly unaware of, big areas. I am more into the alternative music scene, and a lot of mainstream stuff I just don't get any exposure to.

Meh the only tv I care about is Curb Your Enthusiasm, Dexter, Supernatural and Reaper. And I download all of those, I would shut the Dish Network off if I wasn't married.

I'm not up to date with most of the music and who's with who but I could care less about tight pants wearing people and who the hell is having sex with who for this week.

I only know of what gets poured onto the CNN, NYT, and Google News webpages. That entire Chris Brown and Rhianan-something-or-another beating that has been on the news. . .yeah I had no clue whatsoever who those people are.

I don't have TV, and I haven't liked radio music in over 20 years. I'd say I'm out of touch :^)

Hey, I saw Beyonce sing at one of the inauguration balls and went, "hey, she's really really something!" Before that, she was more or less just a name to me. Even Will Smith. I'm not sure I've seen any of his movies. Is he really good? Must be, he gets so much publicity, but I am yet to be impressed.

Very out of touch. Celebrity worship gets pretty boring. I recall looking at a list of famous actresses who are "in" now and I didn't recognize many names at all. The last time I knew what was popular in pop culture, Sharon Stone was a hot young slut flashing her beaver in Basic Instinct and Paul Rubens was riding high with his second Pee Wee movie.

So you know nothing about Pee-Wee showing his Pee-Wee in public then?

It seems that pop culture is getting more and more temporary. The internet and YouTube breed a really short attention span in people. Everything is instant and before you know it, it's yesterdays news. I honestly don't give a crap what the kids nowadays like. They're helpless and clueless idiots anyway.

from what I see about modern "pop culture" I don't think I even care to be in touch with it.

:)

Maybe that's just me being an old crabass tho... shrug.

Very well said. I feel the same way as well. I have an old CRT TV and try to watch as little as possible. I almost never watch prime-time TV and would find it impossible to name three current shows. I've never watched Lost or any other current shows. What I do watch is anywhere from 5 to 60 years old and no longer considered "prime-time".
