anyone else close to this thing?

If anything cool looking happens I'll try to post pics...if my house is still here!

9:30 AM....all is calm sky is grey,, I went out and got an extra gallon of milk and picked up my analog phone from the office.

here is a map of where I am...map of Pinellas county

http://weathercenter.com/radar/doppler.htm <- good weather map

My Mother-in-law lives on Fairweather Dr (I believe it's off of Ulmerton) which is probably right around the corner from you. She boarded up and is staying at her sister's house closer to Tampa (not that it will be much better there). Good luck!!!

Charlotte Harbor - Florida's Best Kept Secret!

Discover a part of Florida that's off the beaten path.
An unhurried, unspoiled and undeniably beautiful haven, where alligators
still roam the cypress preserve.
And ospreys and bald eagles soar overhead.
Welcome to Charlotte Harbor & The Gulf Islands
Florida's best-kept secret.
This tranquil coast community and its barrier islands boasts
831 miles of natural shoreline. Here you'll find marinas, public beaches and peaceful coves that make it easy to get close to the water and away from the crowds.
You can tackle a tarpon, captain a kayak, commander a canoe, search for exotic seashells, watch dolphins frolic and admire shimmering sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico.

This is the vacation you've been dreaming about.
Come, relax and let Charlotte Harbor & The Gulf Islands reveal their many secret charms.

I think they will have to rewrite that website next week. Maybe something like...

Discover a part of Florida that's been beaten down mercilessly.
A hurried, spoiled and deniably beautiful haven, where the alligators
have all drowned.
And ospreys and bald eagles soar overhead because they are afriad to land.
Welcome to Charlotte Harbor & The Gulf Islands
Florida's until recently best-kept secret.
This tranquil former coast community and its barrier islands boasts
no remaining miles of natural shoreline. Here you'll find busted up marinas, massively eroded public beaches and flooded coves that make it easy to get close to the water and away from the crowds.
You can tackle a tarpon, captain a kayak, commander a canoe, search for exotic seashells, watch dolphins frolic and admire shimmering sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico - but only if you have a submarine.

This is the vacation you've never dreamed of.
Come, relax and let Charlotte Harbor & The Gulf Islands reveal their many secret charms.

I just hope when this one is over I'm not paddling my longboard around the neighborhood saving stranded pets! The wind is bad, but flooding is the real danger here!

I'm right near Orlando, so watching this thing very closely. This time yesterday it seemed like I was in the clear, but now it appears that Charlie will be gunning right for Orlando once it makes landfall. Good luck to all those that may be effected.

Now it looks like the bulk of Ft. Myers may be spared from the worst since its made a tiny bit of a turn northward again. The storm is so tightly wound that I think the major concern is precisely the point where this thing makes landfall which appears to be just west of Ft. Myers around Charlotte Harbor.

East coast of Florida right? Looks like unless it makes a very abrupt turn the east you guys won't see much. Watch out for tornadoes from the outer bands, though. These things are so unpredictable though.

That squall was wicked.
It's much calmer now, for the time.
Looking to get owned a little later, though.
