If God is real, and the New Testament is trying to tell us anything by Christ's example, then seek out those who would be stigmatized or in humble circumstances ( like Mary ? broke, out of wedlock, pregnant teenager, homeless) and give them love. Also, Christ does not do things through proxy. He came directly to Earth, to the slums, to visit the sick, etc...This is clearly important when compared to ?old? covenant sort of things. God did not send money to the United Way, or some organization, you know he really got his hands dirty. He was washing feet. So, the lesson is not to give money to the poor, but rather go visit sick people in the hospital, hug them, touch them, read them a story, don?t ?send? your love, go say I want to be with you for Christmas. Attend church with a homeless ministry, and the Christmas experience can be much more moving and emotional. It is why I have taken a leap of faith. It is completely irrational, but it works for me.

No, I am not alone. Actually . . . it looks like I will be alone since virtually all of my family members are working on that day.

I find myself appreciating this holiday. I'm certain it's because this holiday seems to be less commercialised. I can enjoy the songs with warmth.
