i used to have to share my work pc with my coworkers. one woman erased everying in my root directory, then left a post-it note saying "i'm sorry...." that was the last time anyone used it but me.

everyone has a separate login on my home computer and knows not to mess with the hardware/software setup.

Me and my GF have already decided on a course of action when we move in together (the day will come): separate computers! We may share the bed, but computer? I don't know...

Well, we might not have one computer for me and one for her. But we will have two computers, so both can do their stuff whenever they feel like it. Of course, I would prefer separate computers. Then I could do whatever I please with my comp :).

i don't let anyone use my computer, i used some old parts for another computer so that others who come to this house who need to use a computer can use that one. mainly though it has to do with sensitive data.

<< The running prank here in my dorms is warning each other to 100% on aim, putting gay porn background on your desktop, and other stupid things like that. Everyone learns to lock their comp real fast. >>

My brother's roommate never takes anything down, and as a prank, my brother and his neighbors set his wallpaper to a couple of old ladies. It took weeks before he changed it.

I dont mind if they use it just as long as they dont touch anything :)

<<I don't mind when people use it, I just hate the fingerprints on the monitor.>>

Ya I cant stand when people do that. Specially when I get to my fathers shop (barbershop, one computer do-jobby) and have to clean it off because people with COLORING CHEMICAL on there hands have been touching the screen, I dont know how they can stand that...

<< Nothing pisses me off than people making marks on my monitor. That's a BIG NONO. :| >>

I feel the same way, people who point at things on the screen and whatnot, IT NOT A DAMN TOUCHPAD!:|

Also when people will install random crap programs like realplayer or that gator thing that fills out forms.

ok, I'm very glad that I'm not the only one who is extremely anal about people touching my monitor. My friends think that I'm insane.

I am the same way, after shareing my comptuer for my freshman year at college with my stupid roommate, I cannont share a computer ever again. He would fill up my HD with pointless crap, install everthing he could think of, change all my settings...

No i lock my puter whenever i am out of the room, but my roommates now now better than to come near my computer.

I absolutley hate it when people touch my monitor, i yell at my boss everyday for it...

Same here. I don't want my computer to touched by anyone but myself.

I try to keep my monitor free of any marks.
As for other people using it, there are very few, I have one friend who I will trust, but most everybody else does not mess with it.

<< Another thing is when people like my sister DOUBLE-CLICK on hyperlinks on webpages....STOP DOING THAT. This just irritates me to the point that I scream at them. :| >>

I so agree with you... I keep telling them that "The reason they came up with the whole double-clicking concept is to differenciate between highlighting and executing files... clicking a link automatically executes it! Get it through your head!!!! Save your energy!!! Single-click!!!
I don't even think about mentioning that double-clicking sends a double connection request, adding extra load to servers.... no, that would only confuse them. :(

<< And I don't like when people telling me that I should not install free softwares from the net because they slow down my system. Crap, its my computer!!!!!!!! I do what I want with it!!!!!!!!! >>

Another very good point -- reminds me of a quote "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." If I was kind enough as to allow you the use of my machine, don't make negative comments about it. The more you piss me off, the less likely I am to unlock my machine for you in the future. First learn what <insert program name here> does and why I have it, then criticize.
