Who else has to touch grass to feel alive?

I've always wanted to setup an indoor garden, probably setup some sort of enclosed rack that has heaters and grow lights inside and grow in food grade buckets. In the summer months I could move them outside on the deck. Just not a priority project, but one of these days... lol. They do sell grow bulbs that fit in a standard light socket, so I would probably do those. Not a fan of anything with integrated LEDs since you have to throw out the whole fixture when it dies.

T8 6500k lights are usually good for growing too but getting hard to find fixtures for those now as they are actually in process of being banned in favour of LED. At my office they use the most yellow gross spectrum T12 bulbs you can find for the lighting but office plants seem to do ok.

That's the plan at some point. We love on about an acre, so I'm already spending 2-3hrs per weekend cutting the grass (John Deere S240 master race). I'd love to get some raised beds put in the back for vegetables and herbs. Would definitely need to critter-proof it with all of the deer and other wildlife in the area.
Wow, that is ambitious and a commendable goal to reach for but it takes a lot of time and money to achieve that. This is why I suggested you start small with a few pots on the patio filled with easy to care for plants or some small easy to care for indoor houseplants. That way you can get a feel for the long term if you really enjoy it.

FWIW I also own a little over an acre of land an have done the things you want to do like the raised beds. Honestly, it's a lot of fucking work.

I need to get some indoor plants for my office. But I don't have windows and suck at keeping plants alive. Was thinking of finding some succulents I could get that won't require too much care and see how they do in here.
Get a grow light. Aren’t you like the city manager or some such? Should be easy to get your facilities guys to put one in.
