Who else has this wierd problem with computers?

I have had this problem where the cursor jumps to a different part of what I am typing so that I can be typing within words I already typed.I am on a laptop now but have had this problem with every computer I have ever owned desktop as well as laptops so I know it's not me touching the touchpad by accident

Yeah my laptop does that sometimes. My old laptop did it a lot. I think it's the touchpads...

still annoys me how most laptop went with touchpad as opposed to trackpoint.

I have both on my HP and I prefer the touchpad.

Low end laptops do tend to do this. Also, make sure you don't have "smart pointing" enabled (it's called something different on every laptop, but it's the feature that moves the mouse to "hotspots" automatically). Also, try getting different drivers.

In the Synaptics touchpad config you can turn off clicking while typing. This has solved my issue. As for a desktop? No idea.

I can see how this would happen on laptops, but on desktops it usually only happens with optical mice or bluetooth mice. Sometimes the surface isn't even enough, causing read problems for the mouse, or with bluetooth low batteries or weak signal/interference can cause some funky stuff to happen. This may go without saying, but make sure you aren't physical lifting the mouse or doing anything else yourself that would cause jumps. Observing your own habits might turn up something.

There are (desktop) keyboards with trackpoint and touchpad built in. I have the IBM Ultranav.

I have a weird problem with some wired mice sometimes. Mostly it shows on my laptop and one of our work computers - the mouse cursor will simply move across the screen on it's own accord till I pickup the mouse. It happens with a laser mouse (laptop) AND a ball mouse (work computer, not online).

I have never had this problem. Sometimes if I'm typing in Notepad and I quickly save while typing it jumps back a couple words. But that's only with Notepad.
