Here in louisville KY a nice lot will run you 80-110K for about an acre.

our lot size is 40' by 120' (aka zero lot line - the houses are about 15' apart)...even though a bigger yard would have been nice, being closer to work was more important for us...we could have easily gotten a larger house for cheaper price, but the commute would have been over an hour each way...we are very happy with the choice we made...

we bought at $600K in 2001, house across the street which is smaller than ours in every aspect sold for $1.3million one month ago
