im disappointed in the sound of this thing. there is no bass, it's all treble. do i have a bad board? does anybody else notice this?

There are no control panel or anything where you can adjust the sound ?

I have a K8V SE Deluxe here and tought that i would use the onboard sound to save some money but when i realized how much it sucked with my x-530 , i just bought a PCI sound card

Maybe you could just do that too ? 🙂

A Soundblaster Live 5.1 24 bit is pretty cheap these days and do a much better job than any onboard sound (soundstorm included)

PS. there is an equalizer but it just distorts when i turn up the bass

i have this board, i thought it sounded pretty good. what speakers do you have? if you don't have a subwoofer then chances are the bass is not going to be there.

it does support 2.0 setup. just plug the jack into the green input. what i meant was that a 2.0 setup will provide less bass than say a 2.1 or greater, because the 2 satellites speakers are not really meant for bass output, unless you have an expensive pair that is able to produce bass.

I dunno how exactly it translate into U.S dollars but it should be between 15-25 $

That's an excellent price for the card and what it does imo (support 7.1 , 24 bit , great sound)

If you have a bit more $$$ , you can get the Audigy 2 or something better if you want to.

You should get a PCI sound card imo
