Who doesn't give a damn about the Winter Olympics?

*raises hand*

Do not care one whit about anything even vaguely sports related. If it all disappeared tomorrow I think the world would be vastly improved the day after.

Just about everyone. It's sports we don't watch for 206 weeks out of every four year period, WTF am I supposed to care for these two weeks?

Gotta love Women's Figure Skating.

All the women are beautiful, all the men are gay. I got a chance!

Normal non-olympics womens tennis > all.

Well I gotta admit I do enjoy the winter olympics, if only because TV is all weird for a couple weeks. I enjoy various skiing, bobsled, luge/skel, and speed skating. I don't root for anybody, but I do like watching.

I've been watching the World Cup on NBC Universal for weeks. They've been showing winter events non-stop on the tertiary digital channel.

I do.

I know there is big money behind every sport and the Olympics are no different. These people however train like crazy for 15 seconds of fame and many of them will never see it. I think they are the most dedicated athletes there is.

The Olympics have become a joke since the end of the Cold War. Jesse Owens clobbering "the Master Race" in '36, Peggy Flemming in '68, Scott Hamilton in '84, the '80 Hockey Team, Cassius Clay '60, Mary Lou Retton in '84, 1980 and 1984 Summer Olympics, etc.

The Olympics were every 4 years, and was a big deal as we did not have ESPN, 24 hours of NFL, Fox Sports, etc. Hell, there was no internet, twitter, facebook, or other "instant news" to get this. Besides ABC's Wide World of Sports, there wasn't much.

The Olympics were special...a time for the family to watch together, be American, and beat the god-damn Commies. Now, it's about a bunch of prima donnas working to become professionals for the money and endorsements. It doesn't hold the same level; unless of course, Osama bin Laden wants to enter a team...

Changes are most don't since they estimate around 200 million dollar loss for NBC.

It's think it's sort of sad that the event where all countries set aside their differences and compete in athletics are losing interest. Olympics is a traditional.. I grew up with it cheering my home country as a kid.

Is this an US thing? I think people outside of US care about Olympics far more. It's every 4 years....not like pro sports that's every freaking year, over and over again.

I like watching all olympics, I find the games much more entertaining than professional sports. These people have been training most of their life to compete for their country and they all seem to have this spark professional sports is missing.

You mean the summer olympics right? You do know that the events on cypriss mountain will have no snow, its sad, they are shipping in bales of hay to build runs from wood and hay, with whatever snow the machines can make ontop. This is going to be funny to watch, some guy wipes out and hay goes flying everywhere lol.
