Hey just wondering how many AT'ers out there are in tech support.

What do you support, what have you supported in the past, and if you're outsourced, what company are you at?

I work at Convergys supporting SBC Yahoo DSL (ugh), but I am probably moving to a new place called Connextions to support Olympus Digital Cameras. My friend just got a job there in Sandisk.

And despite your low pay, you're likely expected to be an instant expert on all of them.

Tech support for a pharmaceutical startup. I really hate it when there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Also I hate it when bosses are puss!es and afraid to put his/her foot down and make people follow certain IT policies for smoother operations. I ALSO hate when ...Never mind. Sorry for not giving a rant alert.

You have much to learn padawan. Someday you will look back and realize how little you know about "every piece of hardware and software created."

I am currently on my second go around doing tech support at GSA. I worked here from 1997-2000 then was on a DEA project from 2000 until February this year.

I do tech support for a living and my family.

At work, its pretty much any kind of hardware and OS (NT, 2000, XP .... and the server flavor of all 3 as well) support for internal people and out of state sales people. Also provide support for our webiste to all of our outside customers.

At home pretty much anything to do with tech related stuff
