The sentiment seems to be that if you keep asking that same question they will either end the interview or keep repeating a non-answer, in which case you won't be able to talk about anything else.

To be clear if that IS the sentiment, that sentiment is extremely, EXTREMELY stupid because what that actually does is tell interview subjects that they don't need to answer any difficult questions. Like - let them bullshit over and over - let them quit the interview! Those are both newsworthy events!

The problem is that politicians simply will not agree to be interviewed by anyone that wants to do real journalism, and the GOP has managed to create an alternative venue that what used to be real news has to compete with. To remain relevant, they either have to play the game or end up reporting on a video of other people's interviews.

This has all been made possible by American's willingness to go along with it.

You can make that the story too - that they demanded X ridiculous conditions to do the interview and then run a story about exactly what you describe. That would be newsworthy too!

Guess who voted to cut NOAA funds a few days before the big Texas flash flood, in an area known as Flash flood alley. If you said Ted Cruz you would be right.

This fuckin' guy.

"Cruz amended President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” to end a $150M fund that sought to “accelerate advances and improvements in research, observation systems, modeling, forecasting, assessments, and dissemination of information to the public.” The ultimate goal of the federally funded program was to create better forecasts with more lead time."

And then...
"“With any disaster, you see people playing politics and trying to finger-point at their political opponents. That’s not the time for this. The time for this is to come together and support each other,” Cruz said. “But we should also have a serious examination of what steps can be put in place in terms of early warning and being proactive.”

Why would we point the finger at the guy who literally amended the bill to end a program that had a goal of doing the thing he thinks we should examine doing?

More from Cancun Cruz:

And Texans will reelect him in 2030. 🙄

I hate Tucker Carlson's parents more than I hate Tucker.
Well his brothers and sisters of those same parents hate him too. Children compete for parental love and child by child the niches grow smaller. Desperation can create the bad child who will automatically acquire center stage. Miller is actually quite famous.

They can't vote any other way because red (R) is the only color they see. They are colorblind to blue. Blue (D) doesn't exist on their ballots. It's a tradition handed down from their Confederate ancestors, that got handed down to their KKK progeny and further on down the line to their Musk approved Nazi children where their latest generation have become MAGAts. It's an extended family of politically isolated inbred throwbacks.

The same way Putin wants his Soviet Union back, the Conservatives want their past back where there was no Civil Rights, no emancipation of women, no threat of their social status as "real Americans" being threatened with that damn "all men are created equal "Declaration of Independence" bullshit, no equal opportunity to threaten the status quo of their white poverty stricken brethren, no black women and men becoming "their" president.

It's been a feature of Tulsi's where given enough time, she will alienate herself from her team members simply from being herself. She can't help it to be as self-righteous as she is self-serving. Myself being from Hawaii, I've been tracking her political career since she entered politics under the wing of her father, Hawaii State Senator Mike Gabbard who switched parties from red to blue to further his own political aspirations. They are both opportunists more than anything else. Tulsi being more so than her father where he has learned to be more of a team player to survive an election. There is absolutely no way she has gotten as far as she has if it wasn't for Trump being the moron that he is.

Aloha. I have a fondness for Hawaii. I experienced flying there. You can sit on the beach and when the waves rush around you, you can fly over the water. I went there twice and came back three times about 5 years in all.

The problem with hating Tucker Carlson or anybody else for that matter is considering where that hatred exists. We like to think our hatred is objectively based but consider that objectively your hatred is manufactured in your head and your personal hatred exists only there. Beauty as well as ugliness’s are in the eye of the beholder so hatred just means your eyes are hateful. So who would you rather be around, loving or hate filled people. You decide. But we are what we see.

Funny, I seemed to have forgotten the Rush Limbaugh effect. Rural AM broadcasting station take over by conservatives.

David Brooks for sanitizing the reality of conservatism.

Please, I know reading relatively long articles can be annoying, but I'm not as good as explaining things and they are so brilliantly brought out in the article. It's a real history lesson.

Rewriting of history to fit their present mood and flavor of ideology had become a feature of the conservative "movement" well before my nascent interest in politics. It seems the aristocrat industrialists have always had their way such that the rise of the middle class after WWII is viewed as something that went horribly awry as far as the folks from the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation is concerned.

Well it seems they're well on their way toward correcting that unexpected birthing of a class that threatens/ed their rule over the nation and they got millions of duped middle class and poor folks to do their dirty work. That's some pretty fancy footwork Mr. Oligarch, but not so fancy in the sense that the idea of a sucker being born every minute is something you proved to be so true in every exploitable way possible.
