Who do you admire more? Pol Pot (athiest) or Robert Kennedy (christian)

look at Glenn1's thread. It's a shallow, hidden attempt to make atheism look better than theism. I'm using Pol Pot as an example of an athiest.

Pol Pot:

1925-98, Cambodian political leader, originally named Saloth Sar. Paris-educated, and a Khmer Communist leader from 1960, he led Khmer Rouge guerrillas against the government of Lon Nol after 1970. In 1975 he proclaimed the Democratic Republic of Kampuchea; he served as its premier (1976-79). The systematic murder of members of various groups (over 1.5 million), forced labor in the "killing fields," and the transformation of Cambodia into a xenophobic agrarian society ended with an invasion by the Vietnamese in late 1979. Although he retired officially in 1985, Pol Pot continued to control his guerrillas, the strongest antigovernment force, in western jungle areas of Cambodia, until factional collapse shortly before his death.

Yeah, it amuses me that Pol is hanging with Kennedy.

The people who can't see the sarcasm of this thread and think it's a legitimite poll need to look at Glenn1's thread. THe point that I'm trying to make is that a person's religous belief's have no impact on the kind of person that is, or whether they are worthy of admiration.

Sheesh, make yourself look foolish much? While we're at it, why don't we look at the Crusades? Thousands and thousands dead based on religious demagoguery and desire for conquest.

If you're going to compare people, compare the person and not their belief system. Many people have committed atrocities in the name of religion, and many people have committed atrocities in the name of nothing at all. By the same token, there have been millions of acts of kindness by religious people as well as by those of non-religious feelings. To be blanket and stereotypical proves nothing but your own narrow-mindedness. Now be quiet and go out and THINK.


Edit: Tongue in cheek duly noted. But if you WERE serious, and I know there are many, many people who DO think this way, my above comments would stand. 😀
