Probably some FT bug where code entered in a field in the users' profile will cause this.

I just got this pm from eplebnista out of the blue:

The no avatar bug in FT was discovered by Oldsmoboat, is known by allisolm, and was passed on to me by OrganizedChaos. The instructions I received are below:

Using the tamper data firefox plugin you can specify an avatar filename instead of using the drop down menu. If the field is left blank fusetalk seems to assume you just don't want one.

So hopefully if the mods were interested into fixing it they can look at that.

The mods here are not fixers, they are just discussion moderators.
