Then you put up the money and do it yourself if it's so cheap.

Out of curiosity.... what are your computer specs?
This is for a legacy machine that will be running multiple OS'. An NO I am not going to even consider using a virtual machine because it sucks for emulating games, programs etc. etc. Pentium I 150mhz 32mb Ram.

If microsoft is SERIOUSLY so cheap as not want to do it, FINE I'll do it. But unfortunately at this time, because they took the stuff off, I can't do it even if I intend to create such a site. I'd be willing to pay microsoft $10 to give me a DVD with all the information related to their legacy OSes, then I'd manipulate that data and post it online. That way people such as myself who have legacy systems for what ever reason would be able to bring their systems the most up to date as possible.

Funny that you bring that up because of ALL THINGS, I can get both of those things FAR EASIER than getting previously released knowledgebase and updates from microsoft.Originally posted by: The Boston Dangler
this is a joke, right? are you pissed you can't get leaded gas and whale oil too?
I wouldn't be QUITE so annoyed if this hadn't happened out of the blue, that I had warning, etc. etc. Another issue is, even if I did have warning, I have absolutely NO IDEA how one would backup their entire database relating to their legacy products and downloads. Since this has happened to Windows 95, I'm super worried now that it's going to happen to Windows 98 and I have no plan of action to take.
I want a website that has everything Windows 3.1, 95, 98 etc. related, in its simplist form an archive of the Microsoft Website pertaining to those products. I don't understand why doesn't microsoft have a page such as archive.microsoft.com or microsoft.com/legacy.... The biggest reason I care about having all the information pertaining to these older OSs is not only because I'm a bit sentimental but I'd like to keep all this stuff for historial record, reference, etc.

In defense of the OP, I have a handicapped son and I know of a lot of charities, agencies, etc. who depend on donated and older computers. Windows 95 was a stable and usable product, and these charities have been hurt by the loss of microsoft support - and this at a time when donations are way down because of the economic situation. If there was a lot of notice, they didn't hear about it.
