Who brings their lunch to work?

I have three meals at work. Bulking right now so first meal is meat n potatoes + veggies + protein shake. Second is three egg sandwich on whole wheat n oats + scoop of whey for flavor. Third is just a preworkout shake + fruit. I have beef jerky and various types of nuts I snack on also.

that's like living at home while going to college... where's the fun in that?! The best part of the work day at an office is going out to lunch.
because dropping $5-10/day on lunch every day adds up.

I used to eat out every day but stopped when I went on a diet and it's amazing how much money I suddenly have that I didn't even realize I was spending before.

lunch for me is usually a sandwich or dinner left-overs plus a piece of fruit or two and a bottle of water.

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. On the days I don't bring anything if we have the time we usually stop and get something quick, or when we're done with an ALS run we raid the EMS room at whatever hospital we're taking our patient to. Some of the hospitals have EPIC EMS rooms. One of them has a Hagen Das freezer. 😀

i bring mine 3/5 days

sandwich
banana
special K bar
peanut butter snack bar

mondays and fridays i usually eat out.

this week i had monday off and ate out both days so far. there is a deli 4-5 units down in the strip mall we just moved into... today i had a bologna sandwich that was pretty much homemade so i don't know if i count that as eating out because it's not greasy. yesterday i had a Teen burger and onion rings from A&W

Not me. I usually eat at restaurants during the day. Just ordered some sashimi and spicy chicken bento box for pickup here in SF.

Never, its way to depressing to bring a sacked lunch.

Only for people who have no social life outside of work...

I started bringing my lunch every day after I decided I was tired of wasting money and gaining weight. I was working out excessively and still unable to slim down, simply cut out the eating out at lunch, about where I need to be now after a month. A Big Mac value meal has around 1300 calories, most of which is fat, sugar and empty carbs. Unless you're sticking to skinless chicken breasts and salads, chances are eating out is adding 400-600 extra calories you don't need every day.

I'll make a sandwich in the morning or grab some leftovers. I go out for lunch occasionally, but it's nice saving money.

I always bring water to drink during the day (2x27oz bottles) and I try to bring some snacks to eat mid-morning and mid-afternoon, but I usually forget. If I end up feeling really hungry during the day then I hit the vending machines.

I pack up lunch about half the time. either leftovers from the night before or... wait for it... instant ramen 😀

How so? lol what does a social life have to do with getting out of the office and going for a quick drive to get a quick bite to eat. Lot of dumbass assumption in there. Lots of people go to Panera or Subway for lunch which isn't so bad if you get a 6 inch or soup and an apple.

Some people enjoy the change of scenery and not being stuck in the same building for 8+ hours. Sunlight is a good thing.

I bring my own 4 days out of the week.. usually go out to eat on Fridays with a couple coworkers or former coworkers for lunch.

I usually take whatever I have in the refridge.. be it leftovers, a salad, raw veggies, etc. Also bring a couple Babybells and some salami to snack on every day.

The dumbass assumption is that bringing a lunch implies you stay at work to eat it. I leave work each and every day and still bring my lunch. You implied that these were mutually exclusive.

Still doesn't explain how it means you have no social life to grab a bite to eat? lol

Almost every day... thanks to tips from ATOT-ers, my husband and I have been in the habit of making large quantities of food on the weekend and eating leftovers throughout the week to save money.

Today for lunch I'm eating a bowl of chili leftover from the hubby's crockpot for Superbowl. It's my 3rd day in a row eating it and it's still tasty. 🙂

At work I have several boxes of cereal to choose from. Normally they are: Fiber one caramel delight. Honey nut cheerios, and Cracklin' oat bran. It costs maybe $1 a meal since I eat two large bowls a day.

No milk. I hate soggy cereal, I'm a bit milk intollerant, milk tastes disgusting, and since I only buy cereal that doesn't need milk. Some cereals taste better with milk, but these taste better without.

I eat that ~4 days a week. Then I usually go out once a week.

I do. Mad props to Rubbermaid "tupperware" style containers. I usually bring heavy stuff with a fruit desert to tide me over. Most of the time, I drink water but occasionally splurge on chocolate milk. I work at a grocery store, and burn lots of calories, so it works out pretty well. Lots of leftovers and whatnot. I also ride my bike to work, a bit over 3 miles, so that helps.

I could never understand how my cubemate could get by on the same thing everyday. I always ate at the cafeteria so I could get pizza, grill, deli, homestyle, salad, etc. But everyday he had a sandwhich, yogurt or fruit, maybe something else.

Not even much food much less variety. And some times it would be a cheese sandwhich? WTF?

Whatever works for you is fine, I just couldn't work a 9-10 hour day with that kind of lunch!

It did get expensive eating at the cafeteria though. $4-5 lunch, plus a couple sodas per day, plus few snacks, plus $6 McD breakfast. Every day!

I went for a summer internship going out everyday. It kills your wallet. I mean granted I had very little expenses back during a summer off from college, so I was still saving a ton.

But looking back, that was a lot of money used now that I bring a lunch. I'll occasionally go out.

I pack my own lunch and it is exactly the same every day:
1 turkey sandwich (wheat bread, lettuce, cucumber, mustard, and obviously turkey)
1 Granny Smith apple
1 small container full of celery
1 can diet soda (either diet pepsi or diet coke)

I have eaten this same lunch for the last ~4 years

WTF dude. Is your whole life like this, or just your lunch habit? Variety is the spice of life.
