Seems kinda low? I get 11kish on my reference (replaced cooler)

Probably is a little lower than it should be. Both cards ran at stock and were throttling during the test. Also, I believe that was on an outdated version of the benchmark. Not sure how much difference that would make though.

That is one long but nice looking card. How does it do at 1440p or are you using it on 1080p?

I run 1440p. I'm running crossfire now. I ran a few benchmarks with the Devil by itself and it was generally 5 or so FPS above the reference card. I was running 90+ FPS in a quick Overwatch match using Ulta (not epic) settings. It's definitely no 1070 @ 1440p head-to-head.

I guess it's an effective crossfire solution. I've never had the urge to use two cards. I'm on Intel graphics now lol so as soon as I can get a 1070 I would like to see how it does on this new monitor.

I havent tested many games just yet with crossfire, but so far so good. I got in to ethereum mining recently, thats the reason I went with two 480s. They are very efficient at mining. The FPS boost from xfire in games certainly helps at 1440p :)

I think these are about the best I can do with the reference cooler, the EK block may or may not give me some more headroom but it will certainly do it more quietly. ;)

Another quick note to add for anyone who hasn't used an AMD card in a while, I really like the Radeon software UI. I find it's a bit more segmented than it should be, but Wattman (stupid name) is very nice, probably better than any 3rd party utility I can think of and the per application profiling beats nVidia by miles. It's a bit crash prone when opening it though (recovers immediately so no big deal), anyone else get that?

Change two settings on the Ultra preset for better FPS with unnoticeable IQ differences:
Set Dynamic Reflections to Medium or Low
Set Local Fog Detail to Low

It's how I keep my game nice and buttery smooth on my Fury with >144 fps avg

Yea there are always some obscure settings I know nothing about that really don't do much but hinder performance.

Disable motion blur and you will typically pick up about 10fps, and your gaming experience will improve!

Yea that's one I always turn off in almost every game. Didn't like it in doom either. I haven't got overwatch but my brother wants it so I guess I will pick it up when I get a new card.

Besides Amazon preorder? No where. The 480 is far more elusive than I ever could have imagined. Too bad too. I really wanted a nitro because AMD is my brand of choice, but was relegated to getting a 1060 for $250.

To be fair, and not picking on you specifically I just a lot of folks say the same...

Patience grasshopper. Even if you have last gen cards it's a want not a need to have a new one, right? :D

Bah! I'm an American! Give me my card now!

JK. ;)

I had to turn off my now in stock alerts. A few cards popped up on amazon today while I was eating breakfast and I decided, "You know, I've always wanted to try crossfire..."

So now I have a 2nd on order...

No one forces anyone to buy anything lol. You just need to wait until you can get what you want.

Now in stock is excellent for text messages alerts. I've been getting texts for a 1070 that's coming in stock constantly but I don't want to pay $430 for it so I'm waiting for the $399 one to come in. I've seen it before and ordered but it was too late.

Too bad that PayPal coupon expired. I'm willing to wait though until I'm not paying too much over msrp.

You went from considering a $200 480 to now a new monitor and a 1070. That's quite the price difference. Im still rocking a 120hz 1080p monitor that's about 4 years old.

The difference is pretty insane too. I mean there's just so much more crisp real estate.
I don't know how I was using that other panel. This is just from normal use as I don't have the 1070 yet.

My old monitor started getting old, besides my father had asked if he could have it for his business so I said why not I've been meaning to upgrade. I had that monitor over 6 years, a tiny 21inch 1080p 60hz.

Eventually I would have gone away from 1080p and now was my chance since I really did want a 480, but it wasn't going to be a good choice for 1440p 144hz. I'm planning on keeping whatever card I get for a while.
