who accepts starter checks???

I'm curious, my bank rejected my friends starter check (netbank). He went away to camp to work so i can't bug him till he gets back... but that got me wondering, do businesses accept them at all? How bout other banks?

 
They're usually only good for mailing in bills. I don't know why your bank wouldn't take it and and deposit it in your account. I'd understand them not cashing it however.
 
I only used em to order real checks from one of those check making places when I first setup my bank account. Had enough in traveler's checks and cash to hold me over until those got in.
