Does this stuff actually do anything or is it just a marketing gimick?

I've used Rembrandt Extra Whitening for Canker Sore Sufferers for over two years now. I don't really think it's done much at all, if anything. Of course, I use it because it GREATLY reduces my canker sore problem, and not for the whitening, so I don't really care. It has worked wonders for reducing my canker sores though.

If you want white teeth invest in "Day White" do a search on the net you can get it for around $69 US for 4 tubes.

You will prob only use half. And don't keep it in for an hour like they recommend, leave it in over night. I saw results after the first night and 1 week later my teeth were really white... Good luck

By the way all my friends have used it and no one has had a prob with it.

My teeth have remained the same shade for a long time, no matter the kind of toothpaste. A bummer acdtually, I wish I could get them whiter.

All they do is grind your teeth with abrasive, it actually wears down your enamel and makes you more prone to caveties. If you need to white, dish out a little bit of money for the strips or a professional, or ameteur gel job, its worth it, and you'll prolly save money from not having to spend so much at the dentist later.
