/not a wine expert. I usually drink whatever pinot or cab is available.

This weekend I had wine pairings with the meal courses. The whites were amazingly great. Especially this Napa Valley Chardonnay Far Niente. Holy crap it was good. Some of them were a little sweeter than I like, but for the most part excellent.

I think i'm going to explore whites now, even with red meat...lol

Any suggestions?

My wife likes Little Penguin wines cause they are $6/bottle and decent. She likes Dreaming Tree-Everyday and the Chardonney also but i think those are about $12-14 range. Dave Matthews is part of that winery hence the name for any fans.

Far Niente makes good stuff. Napa is famous for their Chards--it is that "caramel" taste that made the area famous in the first place. I like the proper wine for the proper reason, but generally prefer certain reds.

The only wine I ever cared for Bobby Mondavi's white zinfandel and only because it doesn't taste like wine.

I prefer red, but have some great whites as well.
I like cabs.
Cheap white wine tastes like crap. Cheap red wine can be decent.

I like dry reds, hate some shitty cheap whites, but am OK with most reislings. That said, 10 times out of 10, I'd pick an imperial stout or a belgian quad over a wine.

I like whites and reds but probably drink more red wine than white. I like dry red wines and generally like a buttery/oakiness in chardonnay. Nothing that comes in a box.

White wine is good for dunking.

What does this mean?

Dunking is when you are a bully in the lake, and you push another person underwater so that they can not breathe so that they panic because they think they are going to die. Are you saying that white wine is good for weakening the balance of other people to make it easier for you to dunk them?

We've been sticking to wines from Argentina
Usually have these on hand
White - Pinot Grigio (Serve cold)
Red - Malbec (serve at whatever floats your boat)

I like honey wine, and distilled wine. Otherwise, I'm not a fan. It's not bad, but not something I felt like exploring. If I have to buy some for some reason, I get MD wine. Support the locals.

In general I very much dislike the shit california chardonnay we get. Buttery oaky messes. Occasionally I can find a few that haven't gone through too much MLF or have been done in stainless steel barrels (makes it more like a sauvignon blanc). I prefer rhone whites like Rousanne, Marsanne, and blends. I do enjoy a cheap new zealand sauvignon blanc when it's hot as shit and I don't feel like beer.

Reds are my preference. Petite Syrah, Syrah, Zinfandels are my go-to.

I bought a bottle of rosé a while back and realized that I didn't buy alcohol just for the alcohol... The sweetened thing just tasted wrong. I wanted that bitter, ass taste of wine and the regret that came after every sip. Therefore, I will take red, sir.

I was referring to bread or donuts. Who can afford enough white wine to dunk a person?

Ohhh, you dipping then ... i get it...

I don't understand what wine has to do with dunking at all to be honest. just catch them off guard. You don't have to get them drunk to dunk them, even if they are bigger than you.

In any case, I do like to use some dry sherry when cooking.... food is good.

Basically what Olds said... although it is acceptable to drink a white when in the company of a hot woman.

Personally, I like a malbec or shiraz

How can you not like all white wines?

Theres like a bazillion different varieties!

Personally I like dry French whites (whereas I prefer Spanish reds), stuff like Pouilly Fume, Pouilly Fuisse or Chablis are always safe.

Then theres anything with fizz. You can get sparkling reds but, really, I wouldnt bother.
